Unemployment is over 80%, the weather is extreme, and families struggle mightily with crushing financial, housing, health, educational and social issues."

Pine Ridge is a third world community in the middle of a first world country--a country stolen from them. The soil there is not good enough to grow food crops. The location makes it impossible to have viable casinos. The only usable land was taken from them when it proved useful to white people.
