[Rain is pouring down heavily]
Rain is pouring down heavily. It’s too heavy. Storms are heard everywhere and the lightings battle to show their appearance. The coach had called, saying how the night training had to postpone because of the rain. So, here he is, sitting alone in his own living room, watching some random TV channels as he once or twice at time look out to the window, to see how the rain has been.

The rain is not getting any better, so he just sits there, not knowing what to do. Until suddenly he feels his phone vibrating. Looking up to his phone, he sees a familiar number in his phone screen. Too familiar in his heart.

“H-hello..?” his voice trembles as much as he tries to calm down.

It’s been a long time since he talked to her, he swears. And he wonders what would make her call him up in this late sad rainy night.

“Bong,” she called him like the way she used to.

Chained and locked in his own thoughts called memories, he forgot to give any reply until she calls his name again.

And now it becomes clearer to him that something occurred to her. Something bad. He doesn’t even know what or why. He just knew it. Especially as he heard her unusual sniff. The same sniffs he heard when she founds out his father had to have a surgery. The same sniffs he heard when she can’t finish her assignments. The same sniffs he heard when she thought her boyfriend was cheating on her. The same sniffs he heard when she is depressed, sad, and when she can’t take it anymore. The same sniffs he heard the last time he saw her.

“What happened?” he asked in concerned.

He knows she tried to answer, but she can’t find a right word to say. And he just knows her too well. He knows that she only need a comfort at this moment. So he told her, “Wait for a bit okay?”

He ran and ran, not caring about the rain attacking him. He just need to see her and give her the comfort she needs.

So after some minutes he arrives at her apartment, completely drenched in water, but he doesn’t care even a tad bit. He knocks the door and after a while the door opens. He found her looking miserable with her red puffy eyes, her messy hair, and her red nose from crying. She looked like a complete mess, but to him, she still looked as beautiful.

Without any other word, he goes in, hugs her, and soothes her back. Because a nice warm hug is exactly what she need. And she hugs him back, not caring about the fact that she’ll get wet because of Chilbong’s wet t-shirt.

After some seconds pass, he heard a door swung open. He hadn’t see who is it, but he knows something is definitely off. Before he could end the hug or react to anything, she can feel her ended the hug and runs to the direction of the sound.

He looks up to see what happened and he saw a man, -now has his shirt wet, too- and her hugging. She cries again, but he knows this time is because of happiness.

“I miss you and I love you,” and then she said it to him.

The word that has been longing in Chilbong’s mind. The word that he would bet his life just to hear her saying that once to him. The word that has never meant to Chilbong.

The man hugs her tight, even tighter than Chilbong’s, as he whispers the words back to her. And they both smile happily.

And so it hits Chilbong again, that even after years had passed, Chilbong can still never have her.

chilbong, chilbong! au, angst
