Mm, I've not read the manga (...yet?), but there is just so much ACTION, I would think that this is one of those rare cases where the anime manages to be better than the manga. Plus, it wasn't manga first--it was a light novel series first of all, so.
ALSO, this was one of those even MORE rare cases...where I enjoyed the dub a lot more than the sub. The dub is REALLY well-done. And maybe it's also partly because...it's supposed to be the 1930s in America, and they are CLASSIC-STYLE MAFIA GANGSTERS. Obvs. if they'd existed IRL, they would've spoken English, and maybe some Italian. So I guess the dub just makes it seem more 'real', or maybe just 'sells it better'? But YEAH...the link I left is for the subs, but if you can find it dubbed somewhere online, that's the one you wanna watch. ...I...own it, so I didn't have to find it online. So. =\
...I CAN AMEND THIS NOW, I read the first three chapters of the manga today, and...colour me a great deal less than impressed. The art style isn't so great (especially compared to the anime), the storyline seems slow and confusing the way they go at it, and...just, no. THE ANIME IS ABSOLUTELY THE WAY TO GO. AND MAYBE THE LIGHT NOVELS TOO, I'll need to go look for some of those next. B]
BUT YEAH, I was hooked after the first episode. 8Db Hooked enough to buy the thing, just so I could watch the dub. I watched the first episode twice, first sub then dub, and...doing that, it was like everything made sense and I caught so many little details I hadn't noticed the first time through since I didn't know to look for them/what was really going on just yet, and yeah. |D I ADVISE DOING THAT ALSO.
/TL;DR, GEEZ
/GIVES SELF A GIBBS!HEAD-SMACK FOR NOT KNOWING WHEN TO SHUT THE HECK UP but AUGH I am sort of WIRED RIGHT NOW |D;;;;;;
Title → Baccano!
Reason → ...Because it is awesome--the two best descriptions of this show I've ever seen are:
"It's like Fullmetal Alchemist meets The Sopranos during Prohibition ON A TRAAAAAAIN."
&
"Baccano! The show that seems to have it out for anyone with fingers."
NOW TELL ME, HOW COULD ANYONE RESIST THAT. 83
Link → http://www.hulu.com/search?query=baccano&st=1&fs=
Warnings → SHEER AWESOME. TV-MA RATING, SO BLOOD + VIOLENCE (+ SOME CRAZY/CRAZY-AWESOME FIGHT SCENES) + A LITTLE LANGUAGE = VERY YES.
...AN' ALSO, IF YA DON'T WATCH YASELF, EVEN A CLASSY DAME LIKE YOU COULD VERY WELL END UP TALKIN' LIKE DIS FER A WHILE AFTAWARDS, CAPICE?
