meretricula :
Laurence is a KEYBOARDIST. he used to be a classical musician! and then he got swept up in the madness of rock'n'roll and Temeraire. =D
It's like I'll never be able to write plain ol' regular Temeraire fic ever again. :(

1059 words, omg. D: )

!fic, #au, fic: temeraire

MORE? Oh gosh, I don't even think I have this whole AU figured out, but meretricula is acting as my shoulder devil, and she certainly knows what's up. It works surprisingly well, doesn't it? :D Thank you!

I am so proud to be responsible for this. just so you know. ~whistles innocently~

also, you should cross-post things more often! clearly all the really cool people have you friended already but there are no doubt new and exciting people on temeraire-fic waiting to be awed by your evil genius. =D

Well, I am glad you are proud. *shake fist*

Hahah, you think I should? They all seem really silly, but I guess it can't hurt. Hopefully we can drag some people into this? :O

think about how happy you would be to read your fic if you were a Temeraire fan and you didn't write them! you have an obligation to share these things with the internet. XD

Over from... well, I suppose temeraire_fic... and good God. GOOD GOD. THIS MAKES FRIGHTENING AMOUNTS OF SENSE.

Laurence is English, right? English, religious, and old-money, and his dad disapproves of him because he's in music (utterly pointless in his view) but at least he's in respectable music and can entertain their friends at weddings and parties and things. And then comes this uneducated rock'n'roll foreign upstart (the upper, older echelons of society can be appallingly racist, despite his dad's long career in standing up for the poor in Parliament) who has put this seed of madness in his increasingly disgraceful young son's head that Laurence somehow finds himself enjoying, against his will--

AMAZING. LOVELY. WELL DONE.

(I do question stuffy Laurence even knowing the phrase 'faux-hawk', but that can be handwaved easily. Excellent showing!)

DOESN'T IT? /o\

Hahaha, too true! Laurence's dad will forever be ranting about "why can't you be a doctor, like your brother? or a politician? Or-" etc. And, omg, reading all that makes me realize how freakishly well it all fits! Ack!

THANK YOU!

(Huh, you are right about that. I might change it and have Laurence describe it as some sort of furry baby mohawk, because he *has* to know what a mohawk is, at least.)

Oh man, I'm glad you liked it! I totally blame meretricula for this insanity. It was really fun, I might do more maybe. :)

And there has been a lot of AU floating around before. A tennis!AU being one of them. :B

Here via temeraire_fic.

Will's sort of adorable, of course.

I'm interested to find out Xiang's reluctance to have formal instruction.

More, please, I'm looking forward to it.

I'd guess he wouldn't want formal instruction because he can't afford it, no?

Well, that's the Earth Logic route. Besides, now that he has a new friend that's musically trained...

O hai, Xiang/Laurence implications?

Hee, thanks! I might write a couple more snippets since the idea was so well-received.
