You may use it, if you like, as long as you credit me. :)
You are seriously my new best friend. Can I hug you from 10,000 miles away, lol?
There's literally nothing I'd rather do than work at a library. I started out working circulation, then became an assistant children's librarian before I went back for my MLIS. It's a ton of fun working in a public library, but you have to develop some serious thick skin. My eye doctor once made the mistake of saying, "Oh, isn't that the most peaceful job ever?" I'd been cursed out that morning over a .25 cent fine, had a patron throw a book at me, and had to call the police because a man beat up his elementary-age daughter in the library foyer. I swear, I almost punched my doctor.
I'd love to be friends! I'm posting all this Outlaw Queen stuff on Tumblr and Pinterest, and I know my friends are totally fed up with me. I don't care! They really have my heart right now. I'm working on a fan fic right now. Maybe we could work on one together eventually.
Off to add you...and nab that FO banner! You did such a great job.
I'm working at a college library right now, and I enjoy it very much. I think it's my favorite of all of the five library's I've worked for. I love helping the students. My last job was Acquisition clerk for the head library of three counties, when people used to say "It must be nice and peaceful there", I'd have to set them straight. (Nicely of course, since I have a confrontation phobia.) I loved it but I found it very stressful. This job is so much more relaxed than that one.
I'm really glad to meet you. Any time you want to talk about Outlaw Queen or our stories about them or pretty much anything, you can either send me a PM or we can exchange email addresses. I'd love to hear about your stories and any upcoming ideas you have.
You did make me happy! I love the way my page looks now.
I'm so glad I met you. I desperately need someone to talk to OQ with since the season is over. It's also nice that we're both writing an OQ fanfic right now. We can encourage each other as we go.
My email address is Londonhope@aol.com. Like I said in the message, if you need a beta, I'm here!
A college library sounds fabulous. You get to work with people who are paying for their education and resources and thus are (hopefully!) a little more serious about library research. I'd love to hear all about being an Acquisitions clerk, though. What kind of items did you purchase for the libraries---books, DVDs, etc.? If I didn't love being a children's librarian so much, Acquisitions is exactly where I'd want to be.
I know! I was the same. You make the third person I found to gush about them with, so now I'm happy. No one in real life has to listen to me go on and on and on. (Well, except for my friend, flickguy, but we became friends through a mutual love of fandom 21 years ago, so he doesn't count.)
Thanks for your email address. :) I'll probably switch to that from PM because I like the freedom to not be logged in when I answer.
As an acquisitions clerk, I didn't get to pick out what was ordered (the librarians did that), but I got to order *all* of the materials (AV, books, audiobooks, magazines, fiction, non fiction, realia (we didn't have much of that), you name it) and keep track of the budget (which scared me to death because I'd never done it before). The best thing about it is that when the orders came in, it was just like Christmas. I got to be the first one to see every new thing that came in for all 13 libraries. It was awesome! The only problem I had there was that everyone who worked there had been there for at least ten years so they were all stuck in their ways and impatient with someone new who wasn't quite sure what she was doing yet. I lived in terror that I'd make some awful mistake.
