Aftermath: What to Celebrate?

The view was something rather impressive, Tanya mused: to the right, the glitter of the city, to the left, the darkness of the great outdoor. She imagined how it would be during the day, the green of fields and rolling forested hills stretching towards the mountains, while the city would be gray and drab.

Right then and there in the balcony, the faint sounds of the huge party dimmed by the glass doors behind, the Commando decided to spend a few days there in the wilderness: pack the minimum needed, find a quiet valley away from everything and enjoy the quiet.

...

Well, maybe a bit later in spring, when the wildlife would not be so hungry.

The rising sounds of music and chatter alerted Tanya that someone was coming into the balcony, and she turned to face the newcomer: Lieutenant Eva Lee, wearing a long, nearly form-fitting white dress. "Agent Tanya."

"Lieutenant Lee." Tanya smirked a bit, a good way to keep her mind from straying. "How are you?"

"I'm fine." The other woman obviously wanted to say something but did not knew how to start. "I need to ask you something."

Tanya gave a nod, but no other encouragement: months, maybe a couple years ago, she would be hoping for a nice romantic something, a confession of attraction, a proposal of a clandestine affair, something bright and thrilling and... well, unreal. Now, she knew better, and just waited.

Eva cleared her throat, looking down, and tried. "Well... what do you think think of the Commander?"

...unexpected. "It's my opinion that he's a good leader and a decent man."

Eva fidgeted a bit, then looked up. "You like him, don't you?" The tone was a bit accusatory.

Tanya smirked again, shaking head. "No. Not in the way you mean it, and not in any meaningful way, Lieutenant."

Eva narrowed eyes. "I saw the way you were looking at him. I was right beside him, you know?" Again, accusatory.

"No." Tanya shook head, and as Eva opened her mouth to protest again, the Commando closed the distance between the two and pulled the other woman into a a kiss.

No, not any kiss, but a kiss made of passion, lust, temptation and confession. Eva was too stunned to react for a moment, then gave a hint of resistance... then melted into it with a shuddering groan, cheeks flushing deep red.

A full minute later, Tanya lets go of her, maneuvering Eva to sit down lest her wobbly legs make her fall. And before the other woman recovers from the shock, she makes her way to the door, casually, leisurely. "I hope that cleared any doubts you had, Lieutenant. Enjoy your evening with the Commander."

No, she was not smirking a bit to herself as she crossed the room to the front door. There was nothing smirk-worthy about, right?
