I am 100% with you.

Places are focused on making food that tastes good. You can make food that tastes good and is healthy, but food that tastes good and is bad for you is a lot cheaper. Everyone has their preferences but instead of using cheap turkey and mayo, they could just use some decent quality turkey, get rid of the mayo (if you need sauce, you could do mustard or something else low calorie like that) and right there you could get rid of a ton of the fat. And instead of a quality bread, they use cheap stuff and add butter in one way or another so it's cheap and loaded with fat.

And then that just lowers the standards for everyone. Look at Panera. It's a "sandwich shop" and automatically people just think of sandwiches as more healthy than burgers but if you look at the nutrition info they all compare to fast food burgers (or worse, in some instances).

You go to the grocery store and everything is processed, loaded with crap we wouldn't otherwise be putting in our bodies. I don't know if it actually makes a difference, but I'd rather know that what I'm putting in my body are things that humans have digested for generations.

But yeah, it's the worst having food given to you (happens to me at work a lot) and then you eat it, it's not particularly good or bad, and then you find out later that you could have had a healthier meal that would have tasted a lot better.

Yeah, this sandwich was from Panera. I looked quickly around and saw that not a single sandwich fell under 700 calories (which still made me feel bad for thinking I had chosen something healthy, when chicken salad was less calories :().

I am not at all convinced that tasty food is equivalent to badness for you. I do think that it's more expensive to sell food that's tasty AND healthy, but that should be the responsibility of the company otherwise they deserve to get their asses sued. If you don't make it healthy, at least make it very easily accessible as to what the nutritional value of the stuff you sell is (McDonalds does this now, but they should put this info next to their menu).
