Healing...

Today something very special happened here at the Kamiya Dojo in the form of a letter being delivered from Kyoto from our very own Misao-chan! Our frequent written correspondence back and forth had slowed down during the winter months, but now that spring has finally arrived the letters have started picking up full-swing once again. This letter especially has made me smile for what it contained inside.
Aoshi-sama is starting to smile more! I think it is because of the sunshine here in Kyoto! This is followed by some silly doodle of the sun 'smiling'. I think it has more to do than with just the weather....
I look to Kenshin as I hand him the note to read also, and he chuckles to himself as he sees all of Misao-chan's various doodles scattered throughout the letter. It makes me realize that it was not so long ago when I was wanting to see Kenshin smile too, but without any evidence of sadness clouding it. With finding the answer on how to atone for his 'sins' as Hitokiri Battousai, including the accidental but tragic death of Tomoe-san, it seems that he has also found the answer to smile from the bottom of his heart too. Being Kenshin's wife now hasn't hurt a bit either!
Kenshin is as happy now as I have ever seen him and that has definitely helped in speeding up the rate of his recovery from all his previous injuries that accumulated during Jinchuu and even before that. Gensai-sensei constantly remarks on how impressed he is over his improving status every time he pays us a house call and I could not agree more.
Kenshin is home now where he belongs, and I am here beside him, right where I belong.
