Love Never Wanted Me Chapter 3
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
He slept in. 'Goddamn Naruto why the HELL didnt he wake me up??' he thought. Sasuke sat up and whinced as a head ache pounded his temples. He turned and noticed that Keiko had left. 'Naruto must have let her out this morning.' He sheilded his eyes from the bright sunlight that was streaming through his window and glanced at the clock. 11:30. Oh. My. God. Sasuke never NEVER slept in past 9. Whatever. He stood up and slowly walked to his bedroom door and opened it to find his clean clothes folded neatly at his feet with a note pinned to the dark blue shirt. The raven haired man stared at it for a minute then picked everything up and carried it to the bathroom. He read the note on the way. It said:
Sasuke-bastard.
I left early today and didnt want to wake you. Your clothes are clean so take a shower. God knows you probly need one.
Breakfast is in the fridge; hope you like ramen. I should be home around noon, so don't break my house or anything in it. Keiko is NOT
an outdoor cat, and she's not going to become one so dont let her out or else you will be out looking for her without dinner. By the way,
if your living with me, your going to be cooking dinner.
Luv, Naruto
Sasuke sighed, and wasn't surprised at the note. He worked his way towards the bathroom and took his usual cold shower. Afterwards he pulled on his clean clothes, ate breakfast, popped a few pain killers, and flopped on the couch to watch tv. 'If i'm gonna live here,' he thought 'then whats Naruto's is also mine'.

Naruto couldn't believe what he was hearing from old lady Tsunade.
"A what?? No! I refuse!" Naruto stared at Tsunade with surprise, hate, and bewilderment all wrapped into one. "You heard. A mission. Just the two of you for a week. And you WILL take it on." Tsunade tried not to lose her temper at the way Naruto was acting. "Tsunade-sama....do you realize what your going to be putting us through?" Thats when she lost it. She slammed her hands on her desk and stood up. "Naruto! I have no other available shinobi at the time! You two are the only ones available and you will take this mission! You are a konoha shinobi and you will begin to act like one! I am the leader of this village and will be treated as such or you will not have any missions for the rest of the year!" Naruto was startled but straightened up and bowed none-the-less. "Hai Hokage-sama." He glanced at her one last time, then turned and left.
Naruto slammed the door on his way out. He was silent but inside he was screaming with fury and frustration. She was doing it on purpose; she was trying to get them back together. He exited the building and pushed his way past Shikamaru on his way to report a mission. Shikamaru turned and looked at the blonde with surprise but Naruto just kept walking away. When he reached the end of the sidewalk he jumped to the nearest roof and ran to Ichiraku's place. He didnt want to go home.
5 bowls of ramen and 9 sakes later Naruto was tired. It was getting late, and he had to get home. He was feeling some effects from the alcohol and quickly payed the bill to leave. He made it home safely and fumbled with the key at his door. It took him 2 minutes to get the key in the lock, and when the door swung open Naruto stumbled into the apartment and fell on the couch, which was being taken over by Sasuke. Naruto only sat on his feet, but it woke him anyway. Sasuke sat up, looking very sleepy.
"Back before noon huh? Sure you didnt mean midnight? Where the hell were you?" Naruto just ignored his questions, and vacated to the kitchen and made ramen. Yes after 5 bowls he was still hungry. Sasuke watched him with interest. "You've been drinking haven't you? You don't do that unless your angry about somthing. What did Tsunade-sama demand this time?" Naruto glared at him from the stove and sighed. "We have a mission." Sasuke looked dumbstruck. "A mission. Your mad over a mission. And thats bad because.....?" Sasuke looked to the blonde for an answer as he took his ramen from the microwave. "Sasuke. Did you miss the WE part of that statement or do I have to write it down for you?" Sasuke stood up and walked towards the kitchen. "OK. So WE have a mission. It can't be that bad, I mean we've been on long missions before and we' ve delt with annoying teamates before. How long is it and who else is with us?" Naruto closed his eyes and sighed. Sasuke just wasn't getting this. He set down his ramen and rubbed his face. "There isnt anyone else." Now he got it. "What? No one else? Your kidding, right?"
"No Sasuke Im not kidding. And you know whats even better? Its a week long. And we only get one tent Sasuke. Me, you, and one tent for a week. Think you can handle it?" Sasuke just stared at him. "Oh, my god. This is just a disaster waiting to happen. What if our tent gets lost? Were will we sleep??" Naruto glared at him. "Ok Ok I was kidding. God. I don't know if we're ready to be that close again yet. I'll..." The blonde looked at him. "You'll what?" Sasuke turned to go to his room. "What else? I'll go talk to Tsunade-sama in the morning and talk her out of it."

The door slammed hard and Sasuke stalked into Naruto's apartment. He stopped and glanced at Naruto on the couch. "Don't you DARE say one word." Naruto stared at Sasuke half way through slurping up ramen. He finished his ramen and carried his bowl to the sink, then sat next to Sasuke who was at the table looking dark and determined. Silence. "She said no didn't she?" He exploded. Or at least thats what it looked like to Naruto. Sasuke jumped up from the table (the chair flew backwards and hit the wall) and slammed his hands on the table. It almost sounded like he growled while doing this. "I HATE THAT BITCH!!!!!!" He yelled. The blonde just looked at him. "Done now?" He asked innocently. Sasuke glared at him. "Yes. I'm done. Now what do you want for dinner." Naruto stood up and retrived Sasuke's chair from the wall and contemplated how to fix the new addition of a hole to his wall. "Oh I dont know. How about....curry. Yea. Curry sounds great. Sasuke turned towards the stove. "Curry it is." he said aggresivaly.
Naruto and Sasuke carried their dishes to the sink after dinner and Naruto washed while Sasuke dried. Naruto couldn't remember the last time they did the dishes together. Sasuke noticed too how well they had been getting along lately. By all means he still loved the blonde very much, but even he knew better not to make a move yet. They weren't ready for that. Not yet at least. 'Maybe this mission is for our own good. Maybe it will give him the push he needs to trust me again.' Sasuke thought. After the dishes were clean and away, they started preparing for bed.
Sasuke got his clothes together for a shower and headed towards the bathroom. He reached for the door handle when it opened, and a very wet and somewhat soapy Naruto walked out, gripping an orange fluffy towel to his waist. "Sasuke." He said. Sasuke gaped at Naruto, blushing furiously, but then came to his senses. "I need you to do me a favor. I forgot to feed Keiko. Could you....?" Sasuke turned quickly. "Y-yea. No problem." He stuttered. Naruto went back to his shower while Sasuke continued down the hall to the kitchen were he fed Keiko. 'Goddamn Naruto and his sexyness. If he was any more soapy I would have tackled him on the spot.' Sasuke went back to the bathroom and sat on the floor and waited for Naruto to finish his shower. He sat there, contomplating if the mission would result Naruto and him getting back together, or be the end of their friendship. Sasuke hoped it would be the first one.

Naruto awoke at 8 am on Monday morning. He had to be at Tsunades office by 9:30 am in uniform with Sasuke. He shuffled to the bathroom and quickly showered. After his shower he dried quickly and pulled on his jounin uniform. He opened the door expecting to see Sasuke out in the hall but he wasnt there. Naruto sighed and went to his door and knocked. The door swung open. Thinking this strange, Naruto crept into the room. "Sasuke?" He whispered. No answer. He glanced at the bed. It looked empty. He stared at the bed a moment longer and saw somthing move. It was too small to be Sasuke, but to big to be Keiko.....what the hell is it? Naruto slowly moved to the bed and jumped on the somthing that was in Sasuke's bed.
"What the HELL do you want, dobe??" Oops. It was Sasuke. Naruto reached for the lamp and turned on the light. He was laying across Sasukes bare chest and Sasuke had the most bewildered (yet pissed) look on his face. "S-Sasuke. I didnt know you slept curled up in a ball..." Sasuke glared at Naruto then shoved him off his chest and on the floor, then sat up. "Would you like to explain why you jumped on me at.....*glances at clock* 8:45 on a Monday morning?" Naruto stood up and brushed off his clothes for no reason. "In case you've forgotten oh emo prince, we have to be at Tsunade-sama's by 9:30. You werent even awake yet." It obviosly either took a while for this to register or Sasuke was taking it as calmly as possible. "9:30?" he asked. "Yup." There was a moment of silence.
...........
"Shit."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
They arrived at Tsunade's office just after 9:30, and surprisingly, didn't get yelled at. The Hokage gave them there mission details and supplies, then sent them on their way. They were to find a hidden leaf nin that went missing 4 days ago, and they had a week to do it. If they failed to find him, they failed there mission and had to report back home. Of course this was common ninja knowladge.
Naruto and Sasuke flew through the trees together, trying to get as far as they could along their route before they had to stop for the night. They avoided eye contact, both of them dreading the following night. It had been over a year and a half since they sleeped in the same bed. Now they had to share a tent. A rather small tent, mind you. Naruto was the first to break the silence. "If you dont want to sleep in the same tent as me then find a blanked an a local tree branch." Sasuke chuckled. "Naruto I dont think its me that has a problem with sleeping in the same tent. I think its you. " No reply. I knew it, thought Sasuke.
They had to stop in a matter of hours because it was becoming too dark. They found a nice clearing surrounded by trees and dropped down into it quietly. They set up the tent and lit a small fire for a dinner of fish and rice. Naruto had finished his dinner before Sasuke, as always, and he pulled out a rather large bottle of sake. Sasuke nearly choked. "Whats that?" Naruto glared at him slightly before pulling out the cork and drinking it straight from the bottle. "What does it look like? Its sake, moron." Sasuke watched in amazement as one bottle became empty and another appeared in his hand. "Good god how many of those do you have???" Naruto wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "Three more." Sasuke gaped at him. "Three??" Naruto raised the bottle to his lips. "Three." Sasuke was dumbstruck. "Wow. Ok then Im going to bed." He set down his plate and took a sip of sake before making his way to the tent. Surprisingly, Naruto didnt say anything about sleeping together, so Sasuke just crawled under his sleeping bag and fell asleep.

PREVIEW OF NEXT CHAPTER
It was around 1:30 when Sasuke was woken by Naruto's sad attempts to enter the tent. Sasuke sat up sleepily to watch, and maybe eventually help. Naruto finally fell into the tent, and convienetly right into Sasuke's lap. Naruto looked up at Sasuke drunkinly and smiled. "Oh Sasuke...." Sasuke flushed. He knew that phrase. He just hadnt heard it in nearly 2 years. He also knew what it meant. Naruto must be really, really drunk he thought, and he prepared himself for what was to come.
