Unfortunately, not me, but MMT. He's had a fever for the last week and a bit. (Fever over here = >38.5C) and for most of the week it's hovered between 39.9-40.2C when the paracetamol (acetaminophen) has worn off. The first Dr thought it was a throat infection and prescribed anti-biotics. We booked a second appointment when the antibiotics hadn't made a noticeable difference after 3 days and the 2nd Dr told me that Mr Tanuja and I were overdemanding parents (apparently Mr Tanuja must have insisted on antibiotics - which is very unlikely) and over-reactive and over-protective as well. She checked his temp, (yep 39.9C) and his throat, and that was it. There was no improvement by Sat am, so we booked in and this time saw one of his 2 regular GP's who was quite vocal about Dr no. 2, (why didn't she check his urine? Why was no blood test ordered? Did she check his stomach/kidneys/liver for tenderness etc?). Dr 3 thinks that MMT might have pneumonia, but before prescribing wants confirmation. This resulted in MMT having to give a blood sample for the path lab and a chest x-ray. He was incredibly brave and didn't cry once. Hopefully we find out tomorrow morning when we see Dr 3 again.
We have made a note to ourselves that if we are offered Dr 2 for an appointment, we will be politely declining because I don't want to see a lazy Dr who misdiagnoses. Unless of course, he's got viral pneumonia, when we will still decline because, after all we are over-reactive and over-protective parents and wouldn't want our son to be seen by her.
In other news, despite being within patting distance of Paul Dempsey, I behaved myself, mainly because K threatened me. Unfortunately
frivol was not feeling very well, so she was unable to go with us on our road trip - maybe next time. Paul Dempsey was fantastic, funny and engaging. :) I do have a couple of photos as taken with my camera phone. Once I've worked out how to transfer onto the interweb, I'll post them.
