What a day! Its like a four part series in one day - I should probably break it up that way but its all so inextricably intertwined...
With the sunny start I headed out to Ft Flagler for the photo shoot for my car. I felt sort of so-so about it and when I got there about 10am, no one was up yet! (I was asked to be there by then so there would be enough time to do the shoot).
Okay, back up 3 miles from Ft Flagler entrance: suddenly my car kinda sputtered badly then recovered. This is *never* good even if it seems to go away. A hiccup in the Camaro is the foreboding of something very wrong and expensive to come.
Once everyone had a bit of coffee while I fussed a bit with some minor road dust, we packed up and headed down the hill to the beach. My first thought was "everyone has car pictures at the beach, isn't there someplace more creative?" but it was free and going to be educational. Me wrong, pictures *by* the beach is different than with it in the background. We spent from about 10:30 to 4pm getting shots from all angles. Blessed with cloudy skies there was more than enough for some really good shots - and I was rather proud the car looked so good. After moving it every couple of hours I noticed it seemed to idle more rough - something was going very wrong where you can't see it.
Once we got done I told everyone I was going to head back up the hill right away to see if there was something wrong - good greif! It *barely* made it up the hill and DIED as soon as I pulled up to the (barrack) house. There was no re-starting it and I wasn't about to drain a new battery dry, calling my mechanic he said it was probably the fuel filter - great - where in that area was I going to find someone with tools on a Saturday *and* the part? How was I going to get there? And how come there is NO cell phone service at all up there except cingular?!
And from there, the syncronicity began and didn't end until 1AM today...
