For the past 7 years Bush has been pretty fiscally irresponsible. Among other reasons to desire a different direction for our country (besides ones party affiliation ( ... )

You bring up really good points, mister! Blanket statements are pretty dangerous, but so easy to make. There is no perfect political system, period. Every party of every country on this planet has its flaws. I am programmed, however, to favor "liberal" politics over "conservative" politics, which means that I tend to look more negatively on the republican party as a whole, as "liberal" is a swear word and insult for the majority of them. THere ARE responsible and fair Republicans out there, though, just as there are irresponsible and closed-minded Democrats out there too. I personally don't think McCain is one of The Good Guys, but that is just my opinion.

That's rather stupid of you I'm afraid.

If you go visit the Log Cabins ... you'll find out that by and large, its conservatives that are doing us the most good (the down in the trenches ones, not the figureheads at the top that don't matter) and the Dems are quite a bit of worthlessness.

Granted, I'm biased as I'm very socially and fiscally conservative but I don't see ANY change from either party that makes a difference so harping on one despite the other is rather foolish.

That's rather stupid of you I'm afraid. Actually, no, it's not. It's my opinion.

You are "very socially and fiscally conservative," well I am very socially and fiscally liberal, so I think we are just going to have to agree to disagree, my friend.

Indeed. However, data tends to be irrefutable.

I totally agree with you on this one. I read this when it went across the DISH and was sooooo disapointed. He thinks he's doing the right thing, and I get where he's at cuz I was pretty much there 8 years ago, but did he learn NOTHING from the Bush years? EESH my entire political belief system has been changed by seeing how much anti GLBT leanings can actually set us back. *sigh* guess this answers the what are they doing for the community question... Apparently he thinks the community should wait.

The community won't wait, not after as far as we have come. This quote sums it up for me:
"I am not interested in picking up crumbs of compassion thrown from the table of someone who considers himself to be my master. I want the full menu of rights. (Desmond Tutu)"

The only time we will stop fighting for rights will be when all people have truly equal rights regardless of differences. It's totally possible, but we've got a long way to go, I'm afraid.

I totally agree. I just wish some of the rich GLBT people were more in line with that belief. It's amazing how often they fall in line with the homophobes and transphobes if their money is threatened

That is an interesting point. It's almost as if "on average" the more money humans acquire, the less they want to be a part of the fight for equality. I don't know enough about economics to formulate a reason why, but it's something that just makes sense to me. Not that I agree with it, but that I can see the patterns of cause and effect when it comes to those who are concerned/obsessed/conservative about money. (*sigh*) Sometimes I wish the evil that is money would just go away and we find some alternative. Star Trek future NOW, I say! lol
