If anyone's interested, my, "project,"
Poem (which is just me), will be playing at The Clubhouse in Tempe, Arizona on June 3rd.
If all goes as planned, I'll be selling homemade tapes (yes, tapes) individually made and decorated by hand. I'll be selling them for a penny less than whatever it costs for me to make them. So, technically, I'll be paying you a penny to own/listen to my songs, if you'd like them. Also, I plan to be making shirts, each individual and one-of-a-kind as well, customizing/decorating/designing them myself, at home, in hopes of you wearing them and enjoying the visual side of art.
I just want to spread love, personalized-specially-for-you love, and use music as a hub of socialization, connection, expression, and mutual feeling/understanding. All I want is to make you feel something, anything. In my opinion, music is not about fame, fortune, enhancing and augmenting sexual prowess, competition, popularity, profit, number of records sold, number of people at your show, egoism, or anything of that sort. Music is the universal language of feeling, and acts as a conduit for people to connect, relate, inspire, unify, and feel truthful togetherness. It is a common bond, and should not be treated as anything less. It reminds us that we are not as alone as we sometimes feel.
We all know what it's like to have a good/bad day, and just dive into one's headphones and feel better because of the aural/sonic pleasure a great song can evoke. Let's just appreciate that, and love/play/hate/listen to/whatever music for the right reasons.
Be well. Smile a lot today. Let's connect and talk of something substantial, or even nonsensical. Let's teach and learn and just feel together, please.
I love you, whomever you are, for you are you, and that is all that matters.
-matthew
P.S.
If you do or have messaged the
Poem myspace account, there is a problem with it, where it doesn't deliver any messages I send/reply to. I apologize for any and all inconveniences and will use my personal myspace account to reply instead.
P.P.S.
I'm not trying to solicit to you and get more heads in the door. I wish this show was free (Hell, I wish everything was free), but, sadly, it cannot be. So, if you can't come/don't want to/can't afford to, that's perfectly fine. I cannot expect anything from anyone when time and money are involved.
