Is this showing up? I do hope it is. I was relatively sure I'd figured out how to get this thing to type. The technology here is amazing; I'd really love to learn how it works, but-- the strange thing is... I get the feeling I wouldn't be able to understand any of it if I tried. Strange... but there are definitely stranger things at hand. For one, ( Read more... )

Ah, sorry, but I'm afraid Edward isn't here. I'm his brother, Alphonse, so maybe I could help you instead. If you know Brother then we've probably met before, even though I used to dress a little differently.

It's a long story, but we're pretty far from Amestris right now. You need to find a safe place to stay as soon as possible.

His brother, Alphonse? Ah, no, we haven't met. Pleased to meet you, though. ...It's remarkable how much we look alike.

Amestris? --A safe place? What's going on?

Are you sure? Brother and I usually helped people together. It's nice to meet you anyway. May I ask your name?

Um... look alike? Did Brother tell you that? There aren't many people who've seen what I look like.

We've... sort of been drafted into a war. There are a lot of dangerous creatures on the streets that you need to watch out for.

I'm sure. Edward was separated from you when we met.
My name is Alfons Heiderich, by the way.

Ah, yes, I'm sorry! He did tell me that often. I didn't mean to seem strange because I said that.

Creatures? Of what kind?

Oh... So you met him after I got sent here. Is... is he okay?

It's fine, it's just not the sort of thing I'm used to hearing.

They're kind of like chimeras, except some of them aren't like any animals I've ever seen.

Hmm, something like that, I think. He was doing alright the last time I saw him. He misses you, though. But Edward's a strong guy; he'll be okay until you can get back to him.

Chimeras? Like the legendary beasts?

Thank you very much. It's really good to know he's been all right.

I'm afraid they're more than just legendary here.

Oh, it's no problem. It's hard when someone you care about is away.

Ah? Really? ...That's not possible. But I'm beginning to think that 'possible' here means something entirely different.

Yeah. Do you mind if I ask how things are going back home?

It definitely takes some getting used to, but the laws these other worlds follow aren't anything like our own. Some of the people here aren't even human.

Back home? Ah, you see-- when I met Edward he was trying to go home. To his home, at least. I don't think we're from the same area at all. I came from a place called Germany. Does it sound familiar to you?

Not human? ... This defies science-- but I have to admit I find it interesting...

Germany? No, I don't think I've ever heard of it. It must not be anywhere near Amestris. Sorry for all the questions, but do you have any idea why my brother was in a place like that?

I felt the same way at first, but I'm starting to get used to it now. Are you an alchemist too?

(OOC: I am -so sorry- I'm always so late with replying! D:)

Amestris? Where's that? I don't think I've ever heard of it, either.
Edward didn't tell me much, but he said he was trying to get back to, ahh... "his world?" Does that help at all?

Alchemist? Well, no, alchemy's been a dead science for centuries. I build rockets. I'm a physicist, really.

...His world? Amestris is a pretty big country; it's strange that you've never heard of it. But if alchemy really doesn't exist where you're from then I think I'm starting to understand what's going on here...

((It's no problem! ♥))

Yes. He told me he was from a different world. I doubted it all along, but... Now it doesn't sound so strange. It really doesn't exist where I come-- or came, rather, from.

What do you think is happening?
