I'm now obsessed with weddings, but still willing to wait a good 4-5 years before having my own. I'm learning they're a lot of hard work and it's rare that a guy does anything in preparation for them, other than get his tux and show up. Seriously, in one story the only thing the guy had to do was get the caketopper, of which he forgot to do, and therefore the cake had no caketopper!! A tragedy, for sure.
It's been making me think weirdly, or differently. Like we women are all princesses, no matter what. No matter our culture, no matter the color of our skin, no matter our size, we're all princesses. So I've been thinking I'm like a princess, walking through the thorns in the forest, my white gown turned a dingy brown, my hair a total mess, my makeup dripping down my cheeks, my eyes glowing in the night. Looking for the perfect moment, the moment that completes my story.
For Cinderella, it was when the glass slipper fit her foot instead of her ugly stepsisters.
For Ariel, it was when she got her true legs from her father.
For Jasmine, it was when she realized how much Aladdin, the simple one, did for her attention and love.
For Snow White, it was when her prince finally came to save her.
For Dorothy, it was when she had the red slippers and was able to travel back home.
For Belle, it was when the beast finally became the handsome man he deserved to be.
Life is like that, we're all waiting for that one moment that will change our lives around. Of my friends, some are now married, and many more are engaged to be married. I guess we're getting older, huh? But they all are too looking for that one moment, and I hope for them to find that moment to be their wedding. Every woman looks like such a princess during a wedding, and every woman deserves to feel like the true princess she is not only during her wedding but also for the entirety of her life.
