Legal Nuclear Warfare
by Joey Minutillo
Nuclear warheads coat the sky
Countless white shafts accented with red tips
A black cross stamped underneath the letters
B.S.O.W.D
A streak of flames aviate their way through the sky
Trailing these warheads
Warheads
Disguised as bottle rockets
Doused in gasoline
Emulating countless solar flares
Seeking a tranquil polarity
Lusting to transcend a planetary orbit
Through the sky
A family of five stand atop a hill
Near an inoperable marry-go-round
In a former park
Watching the world die
The mother, attempting to light her ciggarette
Sets the air afire
Conflagration consuming the youngest
But their eyes remain fixed
On the cavalcade of nuclear merriment
They're watching the world die
And they don't even know it
Lives
Situated between the crosshairs
Of hyper hypacondriacts
Making an orgasm face
In ecstasy, as clocks melt
Sliding down the wall onto the floor
While those nuclear birds fly overhead
Nobody notices the Great Wall of China
Reduced to a picket fence
Go ahead, cover your window with the shutters
When the world rebuilds itself
I'll be sure to wake you from your dream
Only to be thrown back into
Another variation of legal nuclear war
