As American as mom, BASEBALL, and apple pie

America's pastime; the simple thought of it makes my testosterone levels sore , but luckily for me there are movies like Fever Pitch to keep the hormone levels in check (okay so maybe not). Seriously though, loved the movie. Got to see it with the super studious BF, took time off her busy study group schedule and whatnot. The movie was sure to be a hit though. You can't go wrong with ball shaving and men dancing badly (my personal fave). With that kind of genius it doesn't really even matter if there is a plot or not or if it has been used more times than your mom (shout out to my sixth grade students). Anyway, watching this movie made me reminisce on all the meaningful baseball movies of my past. I mean baseball inspired classic trilogies like Major League and The Bad News Bears (who can forget those kids playing with the Asians); they just don't make movies like that anymore. There is also Field of Dreams (I did want to build it so they would come), Hardball (touching enough to make a grown man cry), A League of Their Own (Madonna playing the promiscuous female baseball player, who would have thought), Sandlot (I cringe every time the boy takes the ball off the mantel), and who could forget Mr. Baseball (baseball and Asians, seemingly an unbeatable combination). Of course the list could simply go on and on, but for now I will list my award winners.

Best Actor in a Baseball Movie: Kevin Costner; has he even been in any other type of movie?

Best Costarring Ethnic Group: Man I love Asians

Best Baseball Movie: BASEketball (I think that counts)

Best Quote From a Baseball Movie: "Well, I believe in the soul, the blank, the blank, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve, and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days." -Crash Davis in Bull Durham (blanks left so as not to screw too much with young minds; however, if you are curious enough to research at least you are meeting a SC Language Arts Curriculum Standard so more power to you)

Mood: Overwhelmed, I never knew there were so many smiley faces to choose from. Of course, the one I desired is not on there, innnnteresting (while stroking chin).
