Well, I've tried to update my journal several times. Most of the time, something happens and the page ends up disappearing. grrrr
So this is an attempt to reconstruct the "lost" week.
Monday, I again worked. Even though it was my day off. My boss was due to return from Milwaukee in the late afternoon. She actually got back around 1:30. She sent Jim home to make sure the house wasn't flooded. We had a shit stream, pour down, your ass is grass soaker Monday. The sky went black about an hour before the storm hit. Half hour later it was pitch black. We're talking midnight outside. Sandi got back just as it was letting up. She and her friend shopped around the store a bit, then Sandi took her to the airport. When she got back around 3:30 I was able to go to a shindig at my brother's.
Clarke is retarded and lives in a group home. He's 38yo and lives with three other guys with his issues. His group home has established levels of status. 1 is the lowest, 5 is the highest. There's only been a handfull of guys to make level 4 and I believe only two have ever made 5. Clarke made level 4, so they had a dinner in his honor. There are two group homes run by the same group, and they all came over to help Clarke celebrate. He was just beaming. It was so damn cute. He got a framed certificate (which he wanted to put up on the living room wall), and the other guys all said really nice things and words of encouragement.
I put some
photos in my picture gallery. Ain't Clarke just adorable? What a sweetie, I'm so proud!
The rest of the week went rather normally. My boss was really nice to me. She brought back a Zulu made beaded keychain (the didn't have any chickens, so she got me an ostrich!) and a Scharffenberger chocolate bar from her trip. She also surprised me today with a couple of packs of chicken buttons she picked up at the fabric store the other day.
I finished putting my shelves up over the radiator. I tell you living five blocks from a big hardware store is NOT a good thing. I got a set of wood boring blades (drill bits), two sets of metal stamps (letters and numbers) which I can use for my leather crafting, and some more wall anchors and screws.
This morning I walked out just in time to see someone hitting the side mirror of my car. Busting more pieces of the damn thing. And I really must be on an upswing, because I'm not perturbed about it. Weird. Anyhow the guy stopped (me yelling "hey, thanks a LOT pal" might have helped) and I got his info. We'll see if he pays up.
After work, my mom picked me up and we went to Pride. She was working at one of the booths, so I thought I'd run around to she what was there. I bought a new cap, and a NIFTY pendant. The pendant was actually made by one of our customers at Stormcloud. I walked by her booth and we pointed at each other and said "HEY". It was kinda funny. Anyhow she does lots of bracelets and such but has gotten into doing wire wrapping on stone and lampwork glass. When I brought my mom by later, she bought one of the dichroic lampwork pieces. My pendant is a large piece of picasso jasper wrapped in goldfilled square wire. The wire wrapping is very simple and lets the stone really shine. I'll take some photos after I recharge my camera's batteries.
So I'm sitting here playing with LJ before I go to bed. I've read my friends pages, posted a few comments, and have tried a few new journal goodies. So if the cut text and embedded URLs don't work, eh, whateveh.
