So my kitty gave me a scare. I came home and she was squatting all over the place but didn't seem able to pee (including her box). So I rushed her to the emergency vet clinic at the UofMn (which is less than a mile away, luckily).
This was my evening: check-in, wait, exam, wait, another exam, they take her away, wait, watch bug crawl up the wall, wait, hear her meowing as they take her down the hall, wait, watch the bug some more, wait, hear her meow again, rescue her from the big meanies, wait, get meds, pay bill, leave.
Whole time round trip, two hours. They think it's just an irritate bladder, whether that's from an infection or not remains to be seen. I'll increase her water, give her the meds they gave me, check to make sure she's peeing (preferably in her box) and lavish her with attention.
Cost $153, which was just the office visit ($135) and her meds. They couldn't get a urine sample because it was empty, so she's been going somewhere (gah). Which is fine by me, and her I suspect, as no one should have to have a needle jammed into their belly for a sample. Yich.
But she's better now, I think the vet trip scared her into submission. I gave her her dinner early, mixing a bit of water in it to bulk up the moisture. I'll likely give her moist food twice a day for a little while. Hopefully she won't get too used to it.
The vets were both really good with Sasha too. Gentle touch, soothing voices. Really nice people all around, including the desk staff.
The worst part of the evening was my mom being so worried for Sasha that she called me during one of the vet exams.
