Weekend continues to exhaust

Oct 20, 2008 23:31

So Sunday didn't let up on my exhaustion factor.

I spent the morning trying to find my tickets to the Vatican Treasures exhibit. Sandi had ordered them for the wrong date, and they wouldn't let her change them. So she gave them to me, hoping I could give her some $$ back. I'm going to try to scrap up some $$ for them. But I somehow left the tickets at work, so I had to wait to see if Sandi could let me into the store to get them. Luckily she was going to a gem and mineral show so she ran by to let me in.

So I ran over to Mom's at noon. I drove us over to the History Center. We had breakfast at the cafeteria. I had a pistachio muffin that was damn good. Mom had a strawberry cream cake slice. Heheh.

The Vatican Treasures exhibit was rather interesting. I really liked the Swiss Guard and the papal vestments. It took two hours to go through the whole exhibit. By then, both mom and I were just trashed. Feet, backs, everything was hurting.

We ran to the grocery after that. Picked up a family steak to grill for dinner. Dad joined us at about 4:30. Mom had managed to slice her fingers while honing a couple of knives. How she managed to do that while using a steel, I have no idea. But she bleeds like a stuck pig anymore (waving to Qill13 gotta love those positive anymores), so it was interesting. Knuckles are never fun, but thank heavens for knuckle bandages.

Dinner was wonderful. I'm the only one who cooks for the family now. Especially if it's on the grill. Since mom had her accident, Dad watched the pasta and sauteed onions while I finished up the steak.

After dinner we headed over to Saint Catherine College for a concert. We had all wanted to go see kd lang when she came to town next. So Dad bought mom and I tickets for our birthdays (hers was Oct 5, mine's Nov 6). I was *amazed* they didn't have an elevator to the balcony level. Mom did very well. Managed to get up the stair alright. The opening act was a solo pianist who wrote a couple of songs for Coppola's Marie Antionette. Dad listens to piano solos on the computer most days, so he rather enjoyed it.

kd lang was wonderful as usually. I recognized most of the songs, about three or four were from her newest album. She is a fantastic live performer.

We all had dessert at Mom's and then headed for home.

I need a nap. ::grin:: In fact I did NOTHING today. Well, I deposited the Maya Society funds and ran to the grocery. I also did dishes.

But my pantry is bursting now. I think I still managed to go into savings, but I also bought in bulk. I now have frozen chicken breasts, canned tuna, juice, hamburger (enough to make meatloaf tomorrow as well as taco meat), I even found my spring onion soup packages. The only think I still need to get is bread. I love Super!Target for groceries, because there even cheaper than Cub. Oh, oh oh, and Black Label bacon was on SALE. I picked up four rashers for the freezer!

I had potato, onion, chorizo and egg burritos for dinner today. Tomorrow is tacos, and I'll most likely freeze the meatloaf. I still have left overs from dinner tonight.
