Updates galore

Firstly, let me thank my flist for all the condolences on Ed and well wishes about my medical hooha. ::hugs right back::

I spent Friday with mom, as I thought she needed my attentions (she did). Her car broke down on her way to work in the morning. She had it towed and called for me to take her home, where she spent the day, unable to deal. We went out to dinner that night and played at Target.

We also went out Saturday. Mom was supposed to go for a walk with a friend of ours, but Grace's house lost electricity and she couldn't get the garage opener release to work. We ran to Penny's, because I wanted to get some jeans. Not that *I* could find any. Mom got a pair of slacks and a casual shirt to wear to the memorial. Afterward we hit a different Target, which did have my jeans. Which reminds me, I have to chuck out those old jeans now.

Mom's car was finally ready this evening. So I played good daughter and drove her to work. I had a dentist appointment today. Went fine. They had a new dentist that I let check me over. She was nice. It's always nice meeting a dentist when there is no pain involved. Hehehe.

After I picked mom up form work, we ran IKEA. I found hoards of shit, of course. I was only gonna spend about $10 until we hit the clearance/as-is area. Dammit. I found lots of stuff for the new apartment.

I also found a couple of bar stools that I'm going to use as end tables.

Speaking of the apartment. It's a go. Move in date is July 1. Chris is going to redo the bathroom, and Julia and Paul are moving out on Jun 15th. Chris is letting them out of their lease early, as long as I sign the new one before they leave.

I went over on Sunday night a got a real good idea of everything. The living room is bigger that I remembered. Julia and Paul are going to leave their couch (apparently it was a bitch to get in the place) so I don't have to steal back my futon from my Dad. Mom thinks she may still have a fitted slip cover for the couch. I tell you, I have these little pedantic daydreams about watching TV on the couch and getting up and going to another room and crawling into a BED. Teeheee. Like a *grown-up.*

I'm going to get a full sized mattress for the bedroom. I'll guess I'll keep the bunkbed for guests. The bathtub is a clawfoot. The floors are all hardwood. A radiator in every room!

They are leaving the cable box too. So I'll still be able to get the digital stations (I don't know if I could handle not getting BBCAmerica). I'm fairly certain I'll loose my email accounts though. Bugger!comcast. I guess I'll get GMAIL now. Even though I can't use my regular names (and I'm fairly certain I'm not going to like sent mail being in the same list with inbox mail). I did set up one gmail account to play with for a while. I got the IMAP set to work peachy. I do love the no ad thingy, hate that about hotmail accounts.

I think I'll kill my residential phone line and just use my cell. I had great reception except in the bathroom. And who really wants to make calls from the bath?

Made it all the way through Casanova and Blackpool and the new Who/Confidential. LOVED Peter O'Toole. I could watch him for days. And Tennant makes a great young O'Toole.

What to say about Blackpool? Hehehe. Tragic and amusing all painted with the same brush. Gotta figure out how to make an icon with the DI and DC bopping along to Kenny Rogers singing into a ice cream cone. I rather liked Bryan Dick as DC Blythe, though I found him supremely creepy in Torchwood.

My favorite ep of Who this season is Planet of the Ood. The last couple were fine. I liked elements of the other eps, but I thought PotO was all good.

One of the other things I got at IKEA today was a cat tube. One of those play things for kitties. Sasha crawled through the middle hole and slept in it through Bones and House. Kitties are kewl. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70109412
I got her a new kitty house, but I'm saving that for the move. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00116944
