Tasty Father's Day

Jun 17, 2007 22:49

Mom decided I should grill for Dad for Father's Day. She suggested carne asada, my current specialty. Mom paid for everything though. Today's menu:

Carne asada (mexican grilled steak marinaded in tequila and citrus juices)
tortillas
Fixin's (sour cream, cheese, sauteed onions, guacamole, salsa)
mexican rice (Zatarans makes a good mix, and it doesn't have MSG)
refried beans (Kuner's of CO, Southwestern refried black beans with lime)
N/A beer for Dad (Kaliber)

::drool:: It was so damn tasty. Lurve it.

We spent most of the down time playing mexican train (12 spot dominoes). We played about six hands. We didn't keep score. But Mom won three games, I won two and Clarke won one. Poor dad. He was drifting there near the end.

Both the folks loved their framed photos. I put the data CDs in the gift bag with a few Lindt truffles. It took me forever to pick out the frames. Mom's wasn't hard. But dad? I wanted something nice, but plain. Modern if possible. Eventually I found a brushed metal frame with a narrow matte. Mom's was ornate copper. It fits her house. They'll print their own copies as they like. I forgot to tell them I made extra copies for the grandparents. Oh well. That's what email is for.

Hope everyone wished their fathers well, and toasted the ones who have passed on.
