Some people wanted to see pictures of my apartment, so here you are. I just have the basic furniture now. I don't have the little things such as end-tables, a coffee table, lamps, etc.
I've been working at my first full-time job for almost two weeks now and I am really starting to enjoy my time here. Granted things are slow at work right now, I feel like I'm in the right place and that I will do very well here. My official title is Project Engineer and I am one of 11 key staff that will run this maintenance contract for all the passenger railroads here in Los Angeles. Metrolink, the public entity that runs all of the passenger trains in Los Angeles contracts out a lot of the day-to-day activities that involve running the trains. Even though the city owns the trains, private contractors operate the trains and maintain the tracks. We are the ones repairing the track.
We replace rails, ties, bridges, and do light construction projects. With hundreds of miles of track that needs to be inspected almost daily, this is certainly a large undertaking. Despite the large responsibility, I feel very confident in my new company. Veolia Transporation has been around for over 100 years and they seem to know exactly what needs to be done. They also like to take care of their people, and that I can certainly appreciate. After having some bad experiences with shitty contractors that abuse their employees, this is certainly a different world for me.
Things at home have calmed down a bit. My parents started their divorce off pretty rough and I still think very low of my father, but at least now they have sat down and worked out the finances. Needless to say I am very happy with my new apartment and job and I'm trying not to get involved with drama back at home. I still do things with my sister and my mother all the time and we have all agreed that it is time to move on with our lives.
