I can't remember if I've said before, but Alyssa and I frequent this 24-hour place in Akron called Country Diner (usually late at night). We've gotten pretty close with some of the servers there over the past months to the point that, if we had a "regular" meal, they would know it.
Tonight when we walked in, there was something different. Taped to the cash register was a printout saying that Shannon Lassiter died yesterday from complications of childbirth and diabetes. She was 24 years old. We did not immediately realize who Shannon was, as we didn't know her by name. The server at the cash register told us where there were some photos of her. When we looked at the photos, we realized who she was. Shannon was our favorite server.
We'll miss you, Shannon. Midnights won't be the same without you.
