Stargate charm bracelet!

Even though I've developed an interest in Doctor Who, I do still love Stargate! It's just much harder these days to find Stargate things :-(

But I did manage, with some searching, to find enough Stargate-related charms to make a bracelet:

The Earth symbol! And the little laptop! So many awesome things.

The Pegasus is something for insiders ;)

Your interest in Doctor Who is only recent?

I'm in the fandom for quite a while now, having first been introduced by a (Stargate) friend via British DVDs back in 2006, then watched the first two seasons in German TV but then they stopped and I forgot about it. I only came back via Torchwood in 2009, and this is still my preferred show of the two. Mainly because it has more Jack Harkness ;)

I used to wonder about people who would be avid fans of Atlantis but never had watched any of SG-1, and I thought you need to see it all to appreciate it properly (and I always will be an SG-1) girl), yet here I did exactly the same. Sue me.

And once I started to seek out fan forums I realized that lots of my old Stargate friends already were there. Somehow, the two shows / universes share the same humor and same kind of storytelling? Especially with Torchwood: You have a team sitting in a secret underground base trying to fight aliens without the ordinary people realizing... sounds familiar? The only difference - and what I really liked - that Gwen's husband was aware of his wife's job. While our poor Stargate people never can have any real relationships with all those secrets. It is important you have somebody to talk to. No wonder Jack/Sam was so well loved. At least they knew.

I never intended to buy any fannish t-shirts but that day I started my computer and found this which combined my two favourite shows, I could not resist, and I get always nice comments for it at conventions: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y107/pizzaweasel317/lj%20stuff/drbeenhere.jpg

I love the little laptop, too! And the stethoscope, and the book, and the glasses :-) All of those I ordered online; the rest I found at some of my local craft stores.

Yes, I'm a fairly recent Whovian--I'd seen some episodes with the 9th and 10th Doctors, but it wasn't until Matt Smith became the Doctor that I really got into the show.

I've been pleasantly surprised to find out how many of my Stargate friends are Doctor Who fans as well! It makes for some fun crossovers with the action figures :-)

I would do way more crossover action figure stories but the sizes of the figures are just so much different :( Wonder if I can do a Stargate / Arrow crossover, as the new Arrow figures are also of the bigger size, and they are even way more detaild and jointed and just awesome.

I did a multi-fandom crossover though with this one: "Hollow Earth" gets readers throughout the Universe

There I also have X-files, Superman, Batman, Terminator and our Stargate team as well as the Doctor and his companions and the Torchwood team of course.

I don't think we have been friends yet back then so you might knot know this one.

The company that made the Hollow Earth book series loved it so much they actually sent me a copy for free! And the whole thing then led to the TV show with Carole and John Barrowman showing a picture of the customized figures I made and talking a few seconds about me.

That is amazing!!!! And SO cool that John and Carole appreciated it :-)

I'm really disappointed that the action figures are so different in size that it makes crossovers really hard. I've done some Stargate crossovers with just the TARDIS that worked out OK, even though the TARDIS isn't quite big enough.

I'll have to find and post some of the pictures.

And the best thing is, that I was not the one that sent it to them. I admit I was thinking about how I could get their attention, but while I was still thinking, someone found it and forwarded it to Carole and one evening I came home to lots of feedbacks and someone said that Carole had retweeted it. The figures I made of John and Carole I showed to John at a convention a few months later. Sadly I don't have a video of this but I'll never forget him saying "Awesome!" I also gave him a photoalbum with the pictures. Well, I had him sign mine first and he actually asked if he could have one as well and how lucky he was, I had brought a second with me ;) He even wanted me to sign it LOL

Please do, I'd love to see them! I always love to see the work of others. Have you seen this? (The Tumblr page is actually my own, but it is a story I reblogged. So cute! http://action-figures-in-action.tumblr.com/post/103787466250/thetoymon-jurassic-world-the-adventures-of )
