First question in the first Stargate panel (I kid you not!):
"What would John Sheppard's ideal date be with Dr. Rodney McKay?"
Joe said way to cut right to the bone, then smirked and said he thought he'd done such a good job hiding it for 5 years ;-) He said it would be in a candlelit lab, of course, and they'd have lemon soup, and lemonade (and some other lemon things I've forgotten). He'd be wearing a lab coat with nothing underneath, and "Let your imagination do the rest."
(Don't know for sure, but I suspect this might be why the questions at all the other SG panels were screened!)
Joe's strangest fan encounter at Dragon*Con: he ran around the con wearing his aviator sunglasses, and some guy in the elevator looked at him and said, "Oh, I get it. Stargate Atlantis--Sheppard. That's really good! That's who you're going for, right?" :-)
Jewel has a similar story about being in an elevator with friends, and having a guy say, "Has anyone ever told you you look like Jewel Stait?" Her friends started laughing, and the guy said, "No, no, that's a compliment!"
Favorite sci fi shows?
Joe said the Republican National Convention! "SciFi lives!"
Connor Trinneer said he didn't really watch sci fi, and started to go into why; Joe interrupted him and said, "When you're in a hole, just stop digging!"
Joe said he watches whatever the kids want to watch, and he can quote Sponge Bob! Then added, "But I'm smarter than I seem" ;-)
Jobs before acting?
Peter Kelamis was/is a stand up comedian (which explains why he is so quick with a snappy comeback.)
Connor did roofing, catering, bouncer at a strip club...
Joe worked at the White House as an advance man and trip organizer for George Bush senior! Also at a bank (and added that "If they let someone like me work at a bank, now you know why there's a banking crisis!")
Have a favorite reality tv show?
Joe: "The [Republican National] convention down the road."
Connor: "Nope." (doesn't watch any)
Peter Kelamis: "Nope."
Joe: "I hate real people! They're taking my job!!!"
Bob Picardo: agrees with Joe--the reality shows are taking jobs away from actors!
If they could play any character, who would it be?
Peter K: "Han Solo! I did bring a costume...." (and he did! One of my buddies has a photo of him dressed as Han :-D)
Connor: Would be cool to play God. *Play* him (i.e., role as God, not *be* God.) Was gonna say Han Solo but now that's redundant :-)
Joe: Indiana Jones, Blade Runner, Han Solo... "I sense a theme."
If SGA movie was made, would they do it, or have they moved on?
Joe: refer to my accountant. Yes.
Connor: Yes.
Bob Picardo: would be really hard to do because the sets are gone. So they'd probably have to do some tactical thing with a ship with all 3 casts where they didn't need the sets.
Joe: he knew they would never do a movie even though they kept saying they would. He got tired of hearing that, so started saying he knew it would never happen. TPTB wanted "cooler, hipper, younger" fans for the new show, but kept saying the movie might happen so they didn't lose *all* the SGA fans. (Nope, no bitterness there.... :-/)
That's the main stuff I have from the group panels. Missed the RDA group panel because the room was full :-( Missed the Monday morning "hangover" panel because I decided it was better to get a little more sleep and be a tolerable person than get up for the panel and be a bitch all day ;-)
No photos -- didn't feel like lugging good camera around the con, and we were too far back in the rooms to get decent pix with my pocket camera or my smartphone.
