10 Best Movies of 2008:

That I saw in Theaters? hmm. well I only saw 10 in theaters this yr, how convienient! So I'll just put them in a "best" order. heh heh

1) Australia (so awesome! that aborigine boy was spectacular, and cute to boot!)
2) Changeling (I know a lot of people didn't like it, but it really pulled me in. I was even going to write my research paper on the actual event it was based off of!)
3) Wanted (yes, another Angelina Jolie film, I know, but for Action films it was pretty high up there. Last scene? 'nuff said)
4) Mamma Mia! (fun music, great cast and beautiful scenery? Count me in!)
5) Get Smart (HILARIOUS!!! best comedy of the year definitely)
6) The Other Boelyn Girl (a fantastic drama with superb acting. Plus, I spent the whole time analyzing and talking about it with a great friend! What could be better?)
7) WALL-E (too cute not to mention. And what a good underlying message!)
8) The Day the Earth Stood Still (okay, so for once, Keanu Reeve's bad acting actually HELPED a movie! And Will Smith's boy plus the leading lady pulled their own too. A well-developed plot, which was surprising)
9) The Eye (just the massive effect of seeing a horror film like this in theaters makes it worth mentioning here, much less Jessica Alba. only complaint? From a musicians standpoint she was OBVIOUSLY not playing the violin at ALL, which really pissed me off)
10) Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (just did not hold up to the 1st one in my opinion, too much violence. But still good, and the music was excellent as always! Thank you John Williams - yes, I know he didn't write it, but the man who did [brain-missing on the name here, sry] apprenticed under him! haha)
and alright, so I lied, I saw 11 in theaters, but the last does not deserve a mention since it belongs at the top of a WORST movie list (*cough Indiana Jones cough*)

10 Best Books:

no way I can remember all the ones I read so far this year, so I'm just grabbing at the most recently read ones. (in no particular order besides the 1st one. Jodi Picoult! tee hee)

1) Change of Heart - Jodi Picoult
2) Easy by Kerry Cohen Hoffmann
3) The Boy who was Raised as a Dog by Bruce D. Perry, M.D., Ph. D. and Maia Szalavitz
4) A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah
5) Hidden by Paul Jaskunas
6) Identical by Ellen Hopkins
7) Raven Rise by D.J. Hopkins (Pendragon Series)
8) Such A Pretty Girl by Laura Wiess
9) Ophelia by Lisa Klein
10) The Talisman by Lynne Ewing

10 Best TV Shows:

1) Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (of course! even tho we lost Casey Novak. *tears*)
2) Army Wives
3) Heroes
4) Gossip Girl
5) Firefly (I know it's been out 4ev, but I just saw it a few months ago. full of WIN!)
6) JAG (same, sorta, I saw scattered episodes while it was on air but am going through the DVD sets right now)
7) ER (though I haven't followed it much since they got rid of my fave character. Abby Lockheart really made the show! *tears*)
and I really don't have much of a life, at least for TV, because that's all I've got. lol

10 Best Songs:

(of those I heard this year)

1) I've Cried Enough by Lara Fabian
2) Stand In The Rain by Superchic(k)
3) Beautiful by Bethany Dillon
4) No Good Deed by Idina Menzel (and like the ENTIRE Wicked cd, haha)
5) Brave by Idina Menzel
6) I Kissed A Girl by Katy Perry (so catchy!)
7) I Still Believe by Hayden Panettiere
8) Anymore by Emmy Rossum
9) Bubbly by Colbie Calliot
10) Dreaming Wide Awake by American Mall cast (don't laugh! It's got incredible harmony)

10 Best Soundtracks:

1) Wicked (of course!!!)
2) Hide and Seek (saw the movie but didn't have the soundtrack before this year)
3) Mamma Mia!
4) Cats
5) V for Vendetta
6) Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
7) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (horrible movie, pretty good music. Thank heavens John Williams didn't screw up too!)
8)  Ratatouille
9) Nim's Island
10) Rent and Sweeny Todd and Moulin Rouge all tied. lol. I know, I'm pathetic.

none of these (except Wicked!) are in my all-time faves, but for 2008 they were pretty high. I'm sure there were lots of old Disney soundtracks that I got this years that should've made this list as well, but I only had ten slots (A Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, Pocohontas - all the bassoon solos, are you kidding me? woot - and lots of other childhood goodies like The Black Cauldron and Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey).

and I swear I am off to bed. sheesh!
