Usually on the commute home, I have all sorts of things I want to write in my journal. But then, once I get home, everything just dissipates.
Today was tech, which meant I spent an inordinate amount of time in rehearsal. Not necessarily doing anything, considering the stop and start nature of the show. Over the course of these rehearsals, though, my part has been cut and cut, and now I'm not much more than an ascended stage-hand, which is almost the same as the last show. However, this director wasn't doing it to be an ass, which to me seems quite nice. She apologized profusely, and when I shrugged and said: "It's for the show, so I understand." She kissed me on the forehead and thanked me for being such a professional actor and such a sweet person.
I explained to the Assistant Director, of course, that I did feel that way. I understand working for the production. However, it was easy to feel like I was being punished. It felt pretty odd, considering I came in to rehearsal off book, was always on time, and as professional as possible, yet my scenes were the ones that were cut while everyone else still has monolothic monologues and even full scenes. Perhaps it's just another one of those tests wherein I pay my dues. Work to get work.
I'll just have to change that system one day.

In yet another dazzling display of unfairness, concerning work, I realized that I had subconsciously done what I always do at work, and that's make myself a super-worker.
I'll take a moment to look at Bertucci's, wherein I worked as Server, Bartender, Delivery Driver, Host, Carry-Out, Busboy, Food Runner, Line Cook, and Shift Supervisor. The same thing happened again at Nage, which is quite sad. By being available to work any shift, I'm now the only person who can work Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Brunch, Bar and Banquets, which means I can be asked to work any shift. However, when trying to find someone to cover my shift, I have a much more limited pool. Some people only work breakfast/lunch. There are only three servers who work lunch, and two of us work per shift. That usually means that only one person can be called. With two of them being young parents, it's difficult for them to find babysitters, so it's hard to call them in. Two of them also work Breakfast with one more server (Who isn't me, though I do occasionally now). The same rule applies though. Brunch has some bizarre combo of lunch and dinner servers. There are four bartenders, myself included, and one of them is a manager, so it gets difficult to get bar-shifts covered as well. One of the bartenders is also a server, the other works as a manager too, and the third has a second job. With dinner, at least two of the other servers have other jobs. The only one available to cover ANY shift, is me, and I've picked up a shit ton of shifts in the 9 months I've worked at Nage. The last one is my best friend, and she's reluctant to work more than four days a week, and is loathe to give up time with her mother. She's the most likely to pick up a shift, which is why she picked up a lot of them...which leads to the aforementioned loathing.
There was one server who would cover my shifts without question, if he wasn't already working. They fired him. Now it's downright impossible to get the shifts covered.

Since my livejournal has turned into my complainy box, I would like a boyfriend. Please send me the best boyfriend.
