I haven't read 'Thorn Birds' -- never really appealed to me from the descriptions. Worth reading then?

Um, why have you never recommended these books to me before? That's SO my kind of reading... how she's escaped my notice this long is a mystery. A tragedy, too. I will get myself reading ASAP.
