Discovered in the Christmas Cracker - 14th December - Tiny plastic car by tango65

Bodie recognised the tiny plastic car immediately. It was a Capri of course. And silver too. He had given one just like it to Ray when there was no room in the budget for an upgrade from his Escort. Knowing the joy of Bodie's Capri, Ray had been very disappointed (well, riled up really), when he had been denied the chance of getting one of his own. He was stuck with the Escort for another year, whilst Bodie happily continued with his silver Capri.

In understanding and solidarity, Bodie had bought Ray his own silver Capri for Christmas last year. Working for CI5 of course meant that the small plastic version was the only one he had time, money and effort to find. Not that his ungrateful partner appreciated that. He just grumped, put it in his jacket pocket and that was the last either one saw of it. Until now.

The car had just rolled into his line of sight and then stopped. It was so tiny, that if it hadn't been for the movement, he wouldn't have seen it at all. Bodie looked around, cautious now and a bit anxious, but there was no-one to see.

Not that he was expecting to, although his heart was crying otherwise. The only reason he had come to this old decrepit building, was that one of his snitches had heard a whisper of a rumour of a possibility that this place had something to do with his partner's disappearance. A partner, who was wearing that same jacket when he disappeared.

A small sound from the door at the end of the hall, brought him back to full awareness and he had his gun out without thinking about it. Before edging cautiously down the corridor, he leaned over and collected the tiny plastic car, pocketing it, whilst his mind drew the conclusion that he was headed towards the car's starting point.

Moving quietly was impossible, as creaky floorboards announced his presence with every step. Knowing this, Bodie was surprised that there had been no confrontation yet. Whoever had sent that
car on its way was playing it low-key. Or were they?

A few more cautious steps and Bodie was at the door. A cautious turn of the handle discovered, unsurprisingly, that it was locked. A grunt behind the door caused his heart to soar - he knew that sound and yelled his partner's name without thought of the consequences. Another grunt was all he heard, but it was enough to confirm he had found his partner.

He quickly took out his pick kit and dealt with the lock, but on turning the handle, discovered that something was blocking the door. Realising that it was likely his partner and that with the fact that Doyle had neither moved nor said anything, realised that he was going to have to be careful and need his partner's assistance to see them reunited.

After a minute of coaxing and painfully slow movement heard from the other side, Bodie was finally able to worm his way through the small space to join his partner.

Doyle was a mess. His shoulder was still bleeding sluggishly from a bullet wound, his arms bound in front of him and his feet tied together. But the slight smile he was able to give his partner made the whole world seem bright.

Freeing him carefully, Bodie quickly checked his partner's condition, checked in and requested an ambulance with his RT, then wrapped himself carefully around the centre of his life, placing himself so that his hand could deal with the wound and his body could share his warmth, in all its forms.

“A tiny plastic car?” he queried in a husky voice, “That was all you could come up with?” A snort, aborted by a gasp of pain, was followed by an equally husky voice in reply, “Ran out of bread crumbs. Besides” a pause whilst he took a careful breath, “what else but a Capri would save the day?”
