the social butterfly
hey, check it out, two days in teh row.
So me as a social butterfly, got two visits today. First Ruth came by again and we watched beauty and the beast together- in chinese of cause so she could understand. It felt so strange that she hadnt brought up watching it. Everytime i watch something with somone who hasnt seen it i feel the same thrill as i did the first time. Anyhow that was fun, im going shopping with her tomorrow and i think its has the 'potential of a beautiful friendship'. Her english aint that good but my chinese is worse to we bounce of each other very well.
Before she came i mannaged to do about an hour and a half of chinese study, watch another episode of mars (im going all obsesive about him again) and give my room a once over. WHen she went i had barely enough time to zip down to the shops and buy some wine to take to chun lis tonight. That aquired i bought these biscuit type cracker things that taste exactly like the ones we use to eat at carnival time in italy- brought back a stupid amount of memories and even older feelings of home sickness. Got a big urge to go live there for a while. Shall have to investigate.
Finally at five i was picket up by chun li and we rode to her house where i was introduced to her parents. The grandad had uncanny similarities to poppa, not sure why i thought so but i instantly liked him because of it. Bare in mind that through out this i understood very little of what they were saying. We had dinner, the daughter constantly hand feeding bits of nuts shes carefully peeled with her mouth and me trying as politely as i could to say i was full.
After dinner a collegue of hers came round to introduce me to her son - who with my judgemental eye i judged to be a rather rude ignorant fat little boy but i hope im mistaken. We watched i bit of harry potter- which is rather good when youw atch it in chinese. It distracts you from the crappiness.
Finally got back, went and talked to cathy for a while and came back to my room. Am watching jumanji- a film i have very much missed in my absance.

oh and i cant have made too much an ass of myself since ive been invited to share new year with them tomorrow which is very much the chinese aquivilant of christmas day.
