a relief, a nervous wreck, a bliss.
work starts again tomorrow. i am not looking forward to going back, and yet i am also really excited to go back. waking up sucks, long days suck....but i miss everyone at work and there is so much to look forward to. my program actually starts in a couple of weeks!!! martin luther king jr day will be opening day for the young heroes team...a group of 150 middle schoolers from across chicago, that i (along with my wonderful team) have been actively recruiting and preparing for the past couple of months. all of our hard work is finally going to come to fruition. it is exciting and terrifying. 150 middle schoolers??? are you kidding me? i think i am the most apprehensive about interacting with them out of everyone in my group and that gets to me. i know i can do it...i just worry about them taking me somewhat seriously...about them liking me...about them reacting to me at all. and it is hard to worry about this aspect of the job, when there is so much work to be done with programming, and in-kinding, and training, etc. i am finding it harder than usual to multi-task and juggle the varying activities and demands of the job. but all of this also makes me so excited. there are tons of new challenges ahead...and i am learning to be more appreciative of prospects like this.
in other news...some of you may have seen this on brea hayes' post...but we are looking for another roommate in Chicago asap. carolyn scoville is moving out and we want to fill her room soon. we live off the irving park brown line stop, just south of lincoln square. we have a 2 story, 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom, 2 kitchen apartment....with access to jewel (grocery store) right behind us, several restaurants, bars and shops within the vicinity. in the house will be: myself, ben prator (my bf), jack winslow, brea hayes and dugan caswell (brea and dugan are bf/gf and will share a room). we have 4 cats, and they are adorable and lovable. Rent is 408/mo and utilities are CHEAP because they are split 5 ways. Please let me know if you or someone you know is looking for an awesome space in the land of Chicago. (913.485.4321)
