(no subject)
Good weekend all in all.
Friday evening I probably should have gone out, or at least been productive in the way of packing...but instead I bought Harry Potter and proceeded to spend the night on my couch devouring it.
Much of Saturday morning/afternoon was spent doing the same...but I did manage to do some cleaning and say goodbye to my couch (We'll miss you!) when Travis and his lovely family came to take it away. When large items of furniture start to leave your home, it suddenly feels as if you are really moving.
Saturday night was the big bar crawl...I enjoyed it immensely...not only are Irish car bombs FANTASTIC, but it felt really good to withdraw myself from the grips of Mr. Potter and join the world of non-wizardry. I did however end up only getting a couple hours of sleep. It turns out I was stuck with a futon, a rock-hard couch cushion for a pillow and a room that must have been 150 degrees. I thought I might obtain permanent brain damage from the conditions...or even die. You are all so lucky I am here to write this post :)
Sunday I drove to KC...and of course I was hung over. It always seems to work out that when I have family functions to attend my body proceeds to be in the most alcohol-induced pain imaginable. Lovely. Anyway, it was my mother's 46th birthday...so we had our usual feast of boiled shrimp, potatoes and corn-on-the-cob. It was heavenly. And chatting with my parent's and grandparents was actually quite entertaining as well...I really am getting old...
I got back to Lawrence around 9:30 or 10 and found Jenn, Katie and Patrick lounging in the air-conditioned coolness that is my apartment. It was a nice surprise :) I hung out with them for a bit and then headed off to bed, where I ended my weekend just as it began with dear old Harry Potter.
