Watchmen
Someone at work decided we should have a wall of staff picks. The kind of thing where we pick books and give a little blurb about why they are so awesome. I'm proud to say that yours truly has sold 10 copies of Watchmen in two weeks. It is the best-selling book on the wall. Because I am awesome. However, I have some stiff competition coming from another girl and her book, The True Story of Hansel and Gretel at nine copies. *chews fingernails* After that is Tallgrass at an impressive seven. I think ours are doing so well because most of the other picks are already bestsellers, like The Boleyn Inheritance and The Last Lecture. Everybody's already read those.
I've got a cash bet with the assistant manager that the new indie favorite The Lace Reader will never break my record. Do not believe her when she says this is a good book, this book was a yawn and a half. The independent sales director at HarperCollins is a liar when he says this is a good book.
