Last weeks.

So, we're in our last weeks now. I don't want to say I'm happy about it, but painting four days a week, with a day trip on just about every free day we have off? I'm a bit burned out.

We spent a good deal of time walking around Venice when we went a week or two back, I don't even remember anymore! (I'll take that as a sign of we're being productive and hard working.)

Before Venice, Caroline one of our instructors left, switching out with one of the heads of the fine arts departments, Craig. Now, Craig is a guy, who's just freakin' interesting, you can't have grown up in the 80's or before with out seeing some of his illustration work somewhere in your life. (Like.. The Jaws movie poster, one of the Dawn of the Dead posters, Garbage Pail Kids from the movie, Monster Squad, some Roger Corman Movies, and from what he says, a whole boat load of underpaid B-movie stuff.)

Craig also kinda looks like Gary Busey, which.. makes me laugh a bit. But, he's a nice guy, and one of the hardest workers I've ever seen, in the last day and a half he's finished two paintings, and he described his work life at home, and it was eye opening. There's a reason he gets paid the big buck for a painting, and why he's been able to paint so long few problems.

On saturday, I did hop on over to Cortona and catch a showing of Carmen (Hooray! Opera! Culture!). It was beautiful set up in the piazza outside the theater, and greatly enjoyable, and thankfully quite low-key. Thankfully, we didn't get rained on like at the Mozart concert the Orchestra was too big to move all that quickly, but again.. the clouds were looming over head.

After this next week, we're going to be heading to Rome, and then from there, we're all going to be heading.. where ever it is we're going. Some to New Jersy, others to Montana, the majority back to San Francisco, tired, worn out, with a bunch of good experiences and a crap ton of digital photographs to make paintings of when we get home.

Speaking of paintings.

In December, they're going to use the New Montgomery Gallery on Market Street in San Francisco to display the works, and studies from our trip. (Most of what we're doing on location now, are studies. We're learning the ropes, and not being able to complete a full painting on location like some of our teachers are.)

So far the rumblings are that even the online students are going to try and fly in and be there for when it opens up, and we'd all get to see each other again! Woo!

Also, it will be my first show (Assuming of course, I get something in, if not then I'll go to support my fellow students, and teachers. I will have a few months to try and get a painting or two done before then to submit.) So, please feel invited, I'm not sure how long the show will last, but we'll all at least be there on the first day, and I'm very excited!

I suppose I should get back to work. Todi won't paint itself. (...though, I wish it would.)
