Ok.
Six months ago Annie learned that a nervous breakdown was a physical condition. As a result my immune system completely shut down. I developed, shortly after, a severe ear infection in both ears that went from outer canal, to middle. I was on several antibiotics which did not hinder the infection at all. My doctor put me on a steroid which finally began to make a difference after the third round. I was in excruciating pain for nearly two weeks and was put on vicodin for it.
I mean it really really hurt, man. No, seriously, I've given birth. this was worse.
As a result, I lost 85% of my hearing for a month and my doctors were unable to tell me if I would ever get it back. The concept sent me into a rather nasty little pile of self-pity and after I developed a bony lump on my wrist, gained 20 lbs, i was convinced that my karma had caused the entire experience.
My hearing did in fact return. I dropped the weight as soon as I stopped being so miserable, and the only remnant of the entire experience is my little bony ossicle of the wrist, which I have named Walter.
I lost alot of friends because I thought if everyone knew what was going on, they would think i was a 'bad person'. It sounds crazy, but you can't imagine how real that was to me at the time.
