A cinquain is a five-line poem; the online journal American Cinqu@in differentiates between the "Didactic" Cinquain that's often used in elementary schools, and the "American" Cinquain form developed by 20th Century American poet Adelaide Crapsey. Cinquains were also popularized by Carl Sandburg.
