State of the Elbow

Jul 15, 2006 13:49

I actually got home from the surgery about 5:30 or so last night, but was still feeling numbed and groggy enough that bed felt like the best approach. I think my elbow heartily concurs; it was absolutely fine when I first got up, but is doing that vaguely aching like I overexcercised it yesterday thing now that I've been up and around a bit.

So, I now have a half cast on it, and am supposed to have it in a sling, although if I'm lying down or sitting at a table where I can prop it up, that's easier. I have a happy little bottle of an oxycodone/acetaminophen mix with stern instructions about operating heavy machinery. It's "as needed" up to a specified max, so I've been undertaking it for now since I seem to be able to manage the pain decently by being sensible about what I try to do with the arm.

The plan is that the pain, such as it is, should die down completely in the next couple days, and the cast is expected to come off when I have my followup with the surgeon next Monday.

Much props to jaunthie and fisherbearrclp who spent a good chunk of their Friday waiting for the hospital to clear my from post-op recovery, walked my scrip through the pharmacy on my behalf, and got me safely home.
