so life is not so bad these days...
i have (at least) two BEAUTIFUL bruises, one just under my left eye (NO THAT IS NOT A MAKE-UP SMUDGE - i have gotten that a lot), and one on my left shin. that one, has the stiches marks from the softball. gorgeous. i don't know why i love bruises so much - probably the same reason i love a good (but not terrible) sunburn. i think that speaks to some dark deformity in my mental consience. who knows?
today was Lauren's birthday, and my mom asked if i would do an encore presentation of "Happy Birthday" on the bass at the family dinner. of course i (loving and audience) could not resist. so i did (and by the way, i messed up in the same spot i did at announcements) and then they asked for more. i loved it. it was my sister's day/night, yet in this moment i was the star. greedy? yes, i think so. i'm guessing that may be the product of being the oldest out of three...?
then my mom just came up and told me she is very proud of me. she said she thinks it is really cool that i can keep up in school, play softball (she thinks i should quit though, due to the sacrifice of my body), AND play the bass. she has never seen (or heard) me play so even the little i know impressed her. i was really happy to hear her tell me that. it often feels like i don't live up to her expectations. but for now i do. yay.
i am sorry this entry may sound like i'm bragging. NOT my intention. i promise.
