all i wanted was a simple kind of life...

last night i took my sister to the Reel Big Fish/Mustard Plug concert and it was the bestest. during the show i paid LOTS of attention to the bassists. they are brilliant. afterward, the oh-so-beautiful Dave (lead singer of Mustard Plug) smiled and waved to me in the empty lobby of the theatre. oh yes.
today we (my family) got together with my dad's best friend in highschool and his family. they live in new york. this guy is greek orthodox, so when i say family, i mean FAMILY. we're talking aunts, uncles, cousins, neices, nephews, second cousins, etc. it was like Mu Big Fat Greek Wedding all over again times ten. we were sitting in this appropriatly cluttered house watching home movies of this whenever-we-get-the-time football game. it's funny, they've been playing this not-so-annual game since they graduated from highschool (it's been fondly christened "The Toilet Bowl". think "Super Bowl" or "Fiesta Bowl" with a bunch of goofy 50ish men and their kids that have known eachother for a reeeeealy long time. one asked my dad for my hand in marriage repeatedly). anyway, while i was watching these old movies, and watching the expressions on my dad's and his friend's face, i got to thinking about myself and my future. will i be watching videos of me and my highschool friends gettng together over the years in, like, 30-40 years? i kinda don't think so for some reason. i don't know if thats because Orme is a boarding school and therefore is harder to keep in touch with people afterwards... or just because it won't happen. for whatever the reason, it made me sad.
we followed that up with a HUGE mexican food dinner and then came home.
i just saw an add for "Jackass the Movie", and i felt like i was going to throw up everywhere. damn.
oh i am working switchboard tomorrow morning, maybe i will write my humanities paper....?
ciao,
katie the new and way cool bassist
