Lately I've noticed a few characteristics that I have developed which relate directly to Matthew Caton. I believe that there may have been another reason I wished to contact or communicate with him, but I can only recall the following single characteristic:
It never occurred to me just quite what it was that he was doing, but I've developed one of Matt Caton's mannerisms.
When I would hang out with Matt, or see him in the halls during a party at my house, he would walk by smiling at me and nod his head, as if to say, "Yes!" Now, at the time, I knew it was not something I understood exactly, I didn't really know even what he meant by this, it was just some characteristic that I attributed to his person. That's just Matt Caton, I suppose. He means well, one can tell by the smile, and it seems that it is a good thing. Almost like a Hello, a greeting of sorts. So recently, when walking around at work (which, as a server in a restaurant where the kitchen and dining room connect at two different locations, so as to form an O of sorts, happens quite often), I found myself just smiling and nodding at co-workers, and it seemed so perfectly natural. There was no need for words, really. Just this sign of friendship and affirmation, as if to say "Yes, I know you! Yes, we are friends!"
