My Ironic weekend

Nov 17, 2008 19:15

Originally I had planned on staying in Michigan this past weekend. I decided to go to Chicago because a whole bunch of people I rarely get to see would be there. It was also Upsidedownblue's 30th birthday.
I drove with Phil and Adam. We(Phil and I also blame Adam) decided to get lunch at the Plum Market. I chose to get Mac and Cheese, mixed cooked veggies and corn bread. What transpired of the next 12 hours was awesome.
About 2 hours after we stopped I began not feeling well in my stomach region. Mostly pain and pressure. When we stopped and got gas I got some Pepto. That apparently didn't work because by the time we go to Brandon's appartment the misery was in full swing. I drank some tea and water but that didn't help. The stomach pain continued to get worse to the point I was vomiting. Well, the puking didn't take away the pain. I curled up on the Sleep Number bed, thank god for that. And fell asleep off and on in between bouts of extreme pain and vomiting. I'm pretty sure its some of the worst pain I've ever felt.
The ironic part is that I missed the dinner party and the bar after that. Which is the reason I went. I did wake up about 4 am feeling much better, although still not great. Brandon came home wasted and I got out of bed and talked to Bethany and Brandon for a while. Brandon left and Bethany and I stayed up talking a bit. I went back to bed. Then Sharon came home and crawled in to bed. I woke up about 8:30. I read a little and laid around until Sharon woke up a bit later. We talked quite a while and then P and A came and picked me up.
We went to brunch where we had to wait for B and his BF because there was some sort of lack of pants. I had toast and fruit. To pile on even more irony over my going to Chicago to vomit, my friend is an ER nurse. He is an ER nurse in Chicago who was in Michigan. Had he been in Chicago I could've gone to the ER and gotten in quick.
Having survived the first attempt on my life the P and A tried to finish the job they started. I offered to drive to give Phil a break once we got to Michigan. Michigan's weather decided to be uncooperative in some spots. There was a glaze on the roads that made it difficuly to tell what was ice and what was just wet. I could tell it was ice when I lost slight control of the vehicle. But alas I survived that challenge as well.
Today my stomach still isn't great. So it may actually may not be food poisoning but a virus of some sort.
