Incredible...

This post I will leave open (feel free to bash)
I want those who it concerns to see.

I am really fed up with bad translation. A lot of you translate lyrics stealing the original meaning, adding fluff to it, not caring if they really sing it like that. Just to sound nice, to be grammatically correct. Only a little word which you use a synonym of can ( Read more... )

you are right about that they are trying to give their best. But sometimes even giving best is not enough. Of course they admit its not 100% Mine not either, everyone can make mistake.
What I mean is... having a little mistake is ok, but what u posted...its the otehr way around. If someone doesnt understand even that basic structure of a sentence, what quality will be what they produce?
Helping fans? Well... in a way. but wont fans be mislead? They want to know what it means. Not that someone makes up.
If you go to work and have an assignment, you do it, hand it in. You did your best, but it was far from the topic. What will the boss/teacher say? "Ah its ok, you get the best grade coz u were trying your best"?
No. World doesnt work like that.
Maybe I am harsh about his coz I was working in Japan and there companies are really punctual, "ganbaru" is not enough. I failed in that too I think, but I was learning from pros in that field. Tho I am a shit translator too, so its not that I am that good.

About fansub, well.... maybe not all, but I know how it works. Lick the feet of the "boss" of the team who oh-so-knows-everything, let the boss beta and correct gramatically, changing words. Just try to say he/she is not right you will be thrown out of fansub group. Too many rules, too many complaints, too many bashing. I emphasize i am sure not every group is like that.
And well... I cant really get along well with JE fans. Of course there are people I can, but JE fans in general... they just dont want to see beyond their own imagination of the boys.
Ok, they say I am a liar, not believing by far who i have met, but I dont care.
Well... they are much often closed in their own world, blind to see the reality coz they dont want it to be the reality.
I may sound harsh but I had a lot of experience with "fans" and all I can say is i feel sorry for some of them.

yeah.. they should be more careful and have some kind of responsibility feeling toward their work. a work ethic. subbing can be a serious business.
i know this one subber and i know she made mistake over and over again. actually one of the translator of DB is her too. she said she live in japan. idk whether she is too lazy to recheck her work or do the mistake deliberately.
i know that "ganbaru" is not enough. just.. most fans dont understand the language so they feel so grateful with subbers work.
in the end, i only can trust fansub will do their best with their work. and maybe, give some critics if i happen to see some aspect lacking.

finding a good and reliable translator is a hard task.

It is not that you shouldnt feel grateful.
But do you know how many fansubbers are? They don't care for quality, all they care that their team should be the first one to translate a new outcoming thing.
That it is THEIR project.. -___-
They think its a competition.
If someone (who maybe KNOWS Japanese and doesnt translate from English subtitles) wants to translate it or they really do, there will start the war "butitwasmyproject"
That's why I am out of this even before entering it. But if you have a show which someone already translated but u dont trust it, I will try to translate it, let it be a musical or anything. (not that I am God, I can make mistakes too.)
