And Glenn Beck scares the hell outta me anyway
Skimming through the news channels tonight, I stopped on Glenn Beck's soapbox for a moment. I missed the majority of the content of the episode, no doubt, but I caught him standing beside a diagrammed Tree of Liberty as he commented that it was time to prune the branches. This, of course, invokes Thomas Jefferson's infamous comment: "The tree of liberty needs to be watered from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
And you know, ever since I did my thesis, I cannot help but think of Timothy McVeigh, who detonated a truck bomb outside the Murrah Building while wearing shirt that proclaimed the exact same thing. I can no longer see Jefferson's words objectively.
**Update** Glenn Beck is a fucking idiot, as he just compared a black politician's use of "nappy-headed child" in a poverty speech to Don Imus's use of a similar phrase in regard to a basketball team. Yeah.
