Well...if you will look down on entry you will see that I have not updated this thing since July and it is now almost the end of January. What happened you ask??? *takes a deep breath* Welll........
Toward the end of July and early into August I started to feel pretty bad...plus my husband had a pretty extensive surgery that took him quite a while to get over. We weren't sure what was wrong with me, but I continued to go downhill over the next 6 weeks or so. This is the short version of this btw. *laughs* Anyway...the day before Thanksgiving I went to the ER I used to work at in Tennessee...evidently I looked pretty bad. I was admitted to the hospital with the lowest blood count in the hospital's history and sent to Intensive Care. They started transfusing blood immediately.
Thanksgiving Day I was transferred by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville. I continued to get blood..and on Friday had a PICC line inserted under my right arm. On Monday after Thanksgiving...I had a Bone Marrow Biopsy and on Tuesday I was diagnosed with Hairy Cell Leukemia.
Yep..Leukemia. Hairy Cell is a chronic leukemia and not cureable. It is however ...as they say...liveable. I received 5 days of the chemotherapy called 2CDA or Clambridine. Chemo wasn't too awfully bad...but the side effects suck royally.
Anyway...as of today..I am doing pretty good...blood counts are getting better...and I get a little stronger each day. I will update this daily now and tell you all about my experiences.
One Day At A Time ya'll. It really does work. Trust me on that one.
Night.
