Vacation over *pouts*

Well...I'm home. *pouts*

Charleston SC..and it's barrier islands are truly God's worlds. I absolutely love it there...and will someday live there. I am going to work very hard toward that over the next year. It is where my husband and I both want to be very badly.

We had a good time. It was cool the first day and kinda rainy the second day so we did most of our touring and sightseeing on those days. Monday...we went to the Charleston Market . It is one of our favorite places there. Just building after building of vendors selling everything you can imagine from Charleston area souvenirs to leather products to clothes to ever so expensive but extremely nice Sweetgrass baskets. Then we went on the Old South Carriage Tour . We do this at least once a trip because every tour is a different. It is a very peaceful thing to do....riding through history in a carriage looking at the old mansions and learning the history. Then our very favorite thing to end the day in downtown is having ice cream at the Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream Shoppe. Wow...they have the best ice cream ever. *LOL*

Tuesday the weather finally cleared up and we managed to get in two really good days at the beach. I have decided that the weather people truly have no idea what is going to happen each day. Tuesday they predicted rain for the whole day...and the sun shined the whole day and I got sunburned. *L* I am extremely happy about the sunburn though. I had been so pale and just plain white from the leukemia that having a little color back in my body is just a wonderful thing. We spent two days laying on the beach..playing in the water (which was quite warm)..and watching people flying their kites. There is a man who spends most of his days at the Isle of Palms beach who does the trick kite flying competitions and practices out there. At one point on Wednesday...he had 20 kites strung together and was trick flying them. LOTS of fun to watch!!

Thursday was another rainy day...so we took off on other adventures that day. We went to the SC Aquarium . It is relatively new and was lots of fun. They do the water ecologies for the whole state of SC, and SC is a very diverse state in that way having the Blue Ridge Mountains...the Plateaus..and the coastal regions. So it was all very interesting. Then we went to the Charleston Imax Theater. I wanted to see Space Station 3D, but there were 400 lousy school kids in there and it was sold out. So we ended up seeing the Ghosts of the Abyss 3D. It was fun seeing the 3D movie and watching my friend Pat who had never seen a 3D movie.

Friday morning was a little dreary so went took the boat ride out to see Fort Sumter . Mack and I have done this several times, but our friends had never been out there....we just enjoy the boat ride. *L*

I think my favorite part came on Friday night. We were over on Sullivan's Island eating at our favorite restaurant called ..well..Sullivan's of course. *G* The owner likes us...and was sitting at our table and chatting a bit. She leaned in to Pat and I and asked if we had read the book Sullivan's Island
. Of course we jumped on that...of course we had. It is a wonderful book by Dot Frank. Her first outing as an author and an excellent book! Anyway...the owner of Sullivan's , Donna, was telling us that Dot Frank would be coming into the restaurant about 7pm...and if we wanted we could stick around and meet her. As soon as she came in...Donna pointed her toward us...and the fun began. She was absolutely wonderful..seemingly almost excited to meet us as we were to meet her. We talked for a few..and asked if she would sign one of the Sullivan's take out menus for us. She said NO! *L* She said she didn't want to sign that menu..but took it and wrote her phone number and address down..and invited us to her house the next day to have book signed if we wanted....and boy did we. We went straight to Barnes and Noble and bought new editions of the books we wanted and signed..and the next morning went to her house. She was a bundle of fun...asking us in...letting us see her spectacular views of the marshes around the island. She offered us glasses of iced tea...and we got to sit and talk with her about 45 minutes...and she signed our books. *chuckles* Amazingly..we talked about her and her writing very little. We talked more about the island..and the real estate...and a million other things. It was a bundle of fun!!

Well..that is all for now. Hope all of you are having a great day. I am off to work on a new edition of StartButton! Everyone sign up for Forums and give my columnists some hell please!! *L*

Sunburned and Relaxed!
