You need to do one of two things:
1. Sick your parents on them, I'm sure you could get at least 50 sets of parents complaining and they'll probably give up against those numbers.
2. Get everyone to use chamberpots. I'm sure you can think of plenty of chamberpot related mischief.

I remember when I was there, they were threatening to close the laundry room because it was being abused and befouled. My mom wrote a letter to Roden to the effect of "How dare you punish my son, who has never had any disciplinary problems with you, for the actions of others. Not to mention that this adds insult to injury because the actions in question also harm him." Have your parents write letters and make phone calls with the general idea that TAMS is obligated to protect you from the mischief of others and punishing you not only won't protect you, but isn't reasonable or just.
I know it sounds ridiculous, but even as a real undergraduate things get done when parents complain.

Well, to be honest, they don't care anymore. If parents and the entire student body together complain, that's another reason for them to keep it. It's gone from being them working with the parents, to them fighting a war against the students. Now, they have their non-refundable tuition money, and more students who are willing to leave because they don't want the bullshit.

TAMS is dying. It needs an overhaul, all new administration that hasn't fallen into the rut of the job and still care about the kids, some new methods of funding, and to stop listening to the 1% of Asian parents that don't want their kids doing anything normal teenagers are supposed to do.

Furthermore, I have a sneaking suspiscion that some TAMS admin reads this just to keep tabs, so to them, I say, "Get a life and stop channelling your own self-loathing into TAMSters."

You are right, one of the new staff (who is a TAMS graduate) does read tams_alumni and reports back to Kevin and Russ if she sees anything interesting. I don't know what her name is, I'm afraid.

It really seems that they've lost sight of the goal of the rules. The rules are there to protect the students both from themselves and other students. The problem is that the rules have become some obsession out of this context. It's sort of like a religious zealot. All they care about are these technicalities, when the purpose and idea is really more important. If students are pulling fire alarms or escaping for the night through fire exits, then they need to install dye packets or maybe have RA's do night shifts and do them so that they have a randomized schedule. TAMS admin and the RA's need to realize that TAMS students really are children and as children, they need parents and not some heartless institution with rules. I was very lucky and had two RA's that were more like big brothers than boot camp sergeants and also I think that Donoghue was of the same family oriented philosophy. Now that he's gone, it seems like no one in the administration sees it this way.

Yeah, but I didn't have asian parents. My parents understood that I would hang out and do things after 11 or after 1 on a weekend. I feel that my class, '02, was the last to be relatively unmolested by admin. All the restrictions and an admin to rage against just brought us closer together. We were comrades in arms, with an evil empire to fight. I must say that confinement to your rooms after curfew damages this comradery, but still I would give up all of my freedom in a heartbeat to be with all of my friends again. I'll never make friends like I did in TAMS and never again will so many amazing and wonderful people be together in one place.
Also, I haven't seen you in a million zillion years. I'm hoping that Tristan's wedding will offer a good opportunity for a reunion. Also, a million zillion = about 2 in this case.

I feel like a get to play the stereotypical applepolisher, but I know that I was one of those freaks who spent many a night working on homework between 11p and 6a working with other students. Confining students to their own floors after 11p might almost be reasonable (apologies to those poor senior mentors without other students in their classes to study with on their own floor), but shutting people in their rooms seems a bit much. Yeah, I know that most of the time, people didn't just "study" during this time period, but I feel that I would be letting down poor procrastinating perfectionists everywhere if I didn't say something.
