Just for curiosity's sake

I was wondering for whom TAMS Alumni may be voting in the November elections. Most people I meet in Britain ask me if I support Bush when they find out I'm American and Texan. I don't, and I intend to vote Democrat in the elections. I was wondering who will be voting and why. Also as a sidenote, does anyone has any memories of G W's ( Read more... )

Since Bush is going to win Texas no matter what, I will probably vote libertarian (Michael Badnarik and Richard Campagna). If I were in a swing state, I would probably vote Democrat, but I don't know. I don't know much about politics, but I know that I have major problems with both major political parties. I wish third (fourth, fifth) parties didn't equal throwing your vote away. Curse-a you, two-party system!

I will probably be voting Badnarik as well. Kerry and Bush are nearly identical on civil liberty issues; Nader might be closer to how I really feel, but I'm not sure I trust him.

Could you elaborate please? Kerry isn't for the 'Marriage Protection' amendment and instead he hedges his bets by supporting individual state's rights to govern themselves on the gay marriage issue. I think gay marriage should be legalised, along with marijuana, but I think there are enough differences between Kerry and Bush to warrant further investigation before throwing the vote away on Badnarik.

OK, Kerry is better on that issue- I was mistaken. My understanding was that Kerry had voted for the Defense of Marriage Act, but he actually did not.

As for "throwing the vote away": nope. I'm going to vote for who I can vote for, period.

Fair enough. I'm actually just happy for people to vote - even if it's for people I wouldn't personally endorse.
