What do you do when your muse insists that you start looking at a character differently than you have all along?
I hate Hojo. That's pretty much all I ever needed to sum the man up, since it actually does take quite a bit for me to say that about someone. The list of "I hate" is pretty short - just Hojo, and a woman from the Black Jewels trilogy, who's name is impossible to spell (Saetan's ex-wife). In fact, for a while, Hojo was the only one on that list, before "Dreams Made Flesh" came out, and I found out exactly what happened to Saetan's third son. So help me, if I ever get my hands on her...
But now, my fanfic muse (who does not seem to care whether he's in the doghouse or not, I've noticed) is suggesting that there might be a little bit more to Hojo than the bastard that experimented on his own unborn son and shot Vincent, with all the results of those actions.
Like, maybe, just maybe, he might have actually been her husband, not just the guy she happened to be married to and working with. Hojo, get this, might have actually loved Lucrecia.
The world is coming to an end.
