Log;
The room was already a little too spinny for Kaoru’s tastes. Rabi’s party had been a great one. Haruhi in a dress, Tamaki ending up in it, drunkenness all around, and he wanted to remember it all. Which meant he had to stop drinking, like now. Blinking a few times, he looped his arm through Hikaru’s, who was of course right next to him, and leaned over to whisper in his ear. “’m getting sleepy and too drunk, Hikaru,” he murmured, breathing hotly into his twin’s ear.
“Let’s go back to our room?” he asked, looking into Hikaru’s eyes pleadingly, a silly smile on his lips. The two of them did everything the same way, so he was pretty sure that Hikaru was feeling about the same as he was then.
Hikaru turned to look at Kaoru, a contented smile on his face. He too was feeling a nice buzz, but if he had any more alcohol, he’d probably end up doing stupid things like… changing clothes with Haruhi like Tamaki had. He snickered quietly at the thought before nodding his head, movements a bit exaggerated by his drunkenness.
“Let’s get going then, mm?” he murmured, a delightful shiver running down his spine at the hot breath curling around his ear. Hikaru carefully pried his arm out of Kaoru’s before slipping it around his twin’s waist instead. He raised a hand and said farewell to the other participants of the party before wobbling over to and out the door, arm still wrapped protectively around his brother.
“I hope we don’t get lost on our way back,” Hikaru said, a silly laugh spilling past his lips. He turned his head to glance at Kaoru, a bright smile on his face. “But I guess it doesn’t matter if you’re here. All the company I need is you after all.”
Kaoru giggled with him, his arm likewise slung around Hikaru’s waist, while his other hand clung loosely to the front of his shirt. “I don’t really care if we get lost, either. You’ll protect me, right, Hikaru?” he grinned, blinking a few times as they stumbled together down the stairs and made their way out to the street. It was dark out now, and while it was much more eerie in the city than it was during the day, the twins didn’t seem to pay any attention.
“Too bad you didn’t wear that dress,” he giggled again. “You would’ve looked pretty,” he poked Hikaru in the chest playfully, resting his head on his brother’s shoulder lightly as they walked along, albeit not in any form even remotely close to a straight line.
“But uh… where were we staying? Building ten, right?” Kaoru blinked again, glancing around. He seemed to remember something and looked back up at Hikaru. “We’re going to be the first one’s back, you know. Just you and me, Hikaru,” he bit his lip, grinning impishly, eyes bright and not quite glazed over yet.
“’Course I’ll protect you, Kaoru. Nobody’ll ever hurt you,” Hikaru said, words stressed more than usual to make sure his words didn’t slur together too much. He turned his gaze away from his brother then, hazy gaze shifting back and forth between the various points on the street. Everything seemed so calm and perfect right now, even though the city was admittedly rather creepy at this hour. Hikaru sighed softly and closed his eyes for a second. It was probably just because Kaoru was here with him. “Do I have to say it again? You would’ve looked better in the dress. You’re the cuter one.
“But yeah, building ten, room seven,” he answered with a rather heavy nod of the head. He laughed then, his laughter echoing loudly through the streets. They were almost never the first ones to retire from parties, but tonight, the twins had consumed more alcohol than they usually did. While they were teasing enough while sober, things could have easily gotten out of hand should they have stayed in a truly drunken state.
Hikaru met his twin’s gaze, his focus swimming just a bit. He caught that impish look on that oh-so-familiar face as a similar one appeared on his own. There were so very many possibilities for what they could do with that time alone, and the thought of it amused him to no end.
“Shall we hurry then?” he asked, hand tightening slightly around Kaoru’s waist. Hikaru grinned. Even if he said that they should hurry, it was doubtful that they could go much faster in the inebriated state they were in.
“Yeah. ‘s spooky out here,” Kaoru muttered, glancing around again a bit warily and unconsciously inching closer to his brother. True, Hikaru was only a few minutes older than him, but he had always been the stronger, braver brother. Kaoru didn’t mind that at all. He was too fuzzy-headed to argue back about the dress comment, which was probably a good thing, seeing as it would certainly go on for awhile. The two tended to argue over whom was the better looking even when they weren’t intoxicated.
Not paying attention, Kaoru’s shoulder bumped into someone. “Oops, sorry!” he called out, voice much louder than was necessary before he melted into a round of giggles, holding on tightly to Hikaru to keep himself from falling over. “I ran into someone,” he grinned childishly. Everything was funny when he was drunk.
It didn’t take long for the two of them to reach the Building #10, and Kaoru stopped and looked up at it in awe, as if he had never seen the building before. “Hikaru, we’re here,” he murmured, then laughed again and reached over to hug his twin tightly. “Let’s go!”
Another pleasant shiver ran down Hikaru’s spine as Kaoru inched closer to him. He gave him a comforting squeeze around the waist before glancing down at the top of his brother’s head. A warm smile couldn’t help but spread across his face, and he too burst into laughter when someone had run into Kaoru. The twins nearly walked diagonally for a second from their lack of balance, but they managed to right themselves.
Before they knew it, building ten was looming above them, and Hikaru stared upwards and almost lost his balance as he continued to raise his head to look up. He finally ended up taking a step backwards to steady himself before his gaze was brought down by his brother’s hug. Grinning broadly, Hikaru returned the gesture, arms folding around Kaoru’s figure.
“Mm! Let’s get going,” he said, gently pulling himself away from Kaoru’s embrace enough to walk. Hikaru stumbled forward toward the door and pushed it open for the two of them, his entire body weight causing it to swing forward with more momentum than expected. He laughed as he flew into the lobby area, limbs flailing for a moment as he sought to regain his balance. Finally, he regained a somewhat steady footing and extended a hand to Kaoru.
After his twin took it, they walked down the hallway to room ten, and Hikaru produced a key. It took several tries, but he finally managed to unlock the door. Careful not to let the same thing happen again, he pushed against it gently, and it swung open slowly. “We’re home,” he said, voice quiet. Hikaru toed off his shoes and shuffled inside, dragging Kaoru along with him. “Let’s get to bed, hm?”
Once they were both in the bedroom they shared together, Hikaru sighed softly and leaned against the door. “Tonight was fun, wasn’t it?” he asked, voice growing fainter as he spoke. “Everyone was having a good time…”
“Mm yeah, it was. It’s been awhile since we’ve been to a party like that,” Kaoru agreed enthusiastically, nodding his head a few times. He sat down on the bed and cocked his head at Hikaru for a moment, blinking once or twice before smiling again and pulling his shirt off and over his head. He had been hot for awhile now, but he knew Hikaru wouldn’t have liked it if he had walked around the party half naked again.
Wow, he was really dizzy. And tired, but still giggly. Kaoru figured that both of them were going to have a bit of a headache tomorrow morning, but definitely not as big as the headaches Haruhi and Tamaki were going to have. He was thrilled that he had gotten to witness that and the memory of it made him giggle even more.
“Tono in a dress. That was brilliant,” he grinned, reaching up for Hikaru’s hand and pulling him towards him as he scooted back on the bed. This effectively brought Hikaru down next to him, and Kaoru immediately snuggled up to his brother, propping his head up on his palm and elbow. “We’ll have to tease him about it a lot. And Haruhi too,” he laughed quietly, looking up into eyes that matched his own but were still definitely Hikaru’s.
“Glad we didn’t get that drunk,” Kaoru added. “Might’ve done something silly in front of everyone,” he noted thoughtfully. “Or you might’ve. And people would’ve teased you and I would’ve gotten mad. Or you know, the other way around,” he rambled on for a bit, talking with his hands, still curled up beside Hikaru.
Hikaru laughed as Kaoru pulled him onto the bed. Once his twin had settled down by his side, he curled an arm around the other's shoulders. His hand wrapped almost protectively around Kaoru's arm, as fingers drummed gently against bare skin. "We'll certainly have a lot of fun at the table tomorrow morning," he replied, a grin spreading across his face. "We'll just have to hope we're not so hung over that even we can't come up with any remarks to make at them!"
Sighing softly, the elder twin sank several inches on the bed, so that he was just about eye-level with Kaoru. For a moment, he simply looked at the other, quietly noting the features of the other's face that were almost but not quite similar to his own. The only ones who probably could find and see every single difference between the two of them were the twins themselves, and Hikaru found himself feeling very happy about that fact.
Haruhi seemed to have no trouble telling them apart, but that didn't mean she could spot everything.
A possessive smirk crossed his lips then, and his hand tightened around Kaoru's arm, drawing him nearer. Come what may in the future, they would always have each other, regardless of time, distance, or even people. The Hitachiin twins were inseparable after all.
"Ne, Kaoru?" he murmured, his words slurring slightly at the end. "You know how tono and the others are always asking how much of our act is real?" Hikaru paused, an almost insecure look passing across his face then. "I know that there's brotherly love and the like, but…
"I don't think I would really know the answer to tono's question if I really had to give up an answer," he finished. Hikaru chewed on his lip thoughtful, gaze slowly shifting to meet Kaoru's. Maybe it was just because he was slightly drunk or maybe that wasn't it at all, but the thought just seemed that much more intriguing and yet bothersome right then. "How far… does that love go and how much of it is…"
He didn't finish his sentence, words falling silent on his tongue. What was he trying to say?
"Nah, we'll never be that hungover," Kaoru laughed, relaxing even further once Hikaru's arm wrapped around his shoulders. He wasn't afraid of many things, really, but somehow he always felt safer and more content when his brother had his arm around him.
Even in his slightly inebriated state, Kaoru could tell that something was on his twin's mind, especially when the other boy began studying him silently, searching his expression and eyes. Likewise, Kaoru did the same, noting the slightly possessive crooked smile and questioning gaze, coupled with that arm tightening around his shoulders.
Funny, how two seconds before, the twins had been giggling ridiculously, and now they were staring at each other quite intently.
Kaoru's eyes widened a little as Hikaru posed his question, before his gaze dropped down to his brother's mouth, watching him worry his bottom lip between two rows of white teeth, blinking slowly and trying to come up with a suitable answer. He had been wondering that himself lately. As usual, the two of them were almost exactly alike.
"You mean, if it's more than just brotherly love?" he asked curiously, meeting Hikaru's gaze as firmly as he could while his head was still slightly fuzzy. He blinked a few times, letting the question hang over their heads for a moment or two before scooting even closer to his brother and resting the palm of one hand on his chest.
"I don't know," he replied. "What do you think? You know that beyond our act in front of the Host Club and the girls, I want to be around you all the time, right?" he tilted his head to the side a little. "And I don't like falling asleep without you there. And I... I like pretending that there's more between us, because it feels... natural," he finished, cheeks flushing ever so slightly as he waited to see what his brother would say in return.
The twins never showed their more serious side to anyone else. Around others they were always fun and games, but being alone together gave them an opportunity to discuss what was really going on in their heads, to share what few secrets weren't already known between the two of them. It was quite reassuring, Hikaru noted, always having someone he could turn to like this. He couldn't even begin to comprehend a world where he wasn't a twin; the thought was absolutely absurd.
As Kaoru spoke, Hikaru placed his free hand atop the one on his chest before following the arm up to meet Kaoru's shoulder. It then continued to travel upwards some more, coming to cup his brother's cheek in a movement that was so natural that it seemed to just mold itself to the other's face. It was a common act, admittedly, during the host club meetings, but this time there was no show behind his actions.
"Yeah, I like it, too," he said, voice soft. Hikaru ran his thumb across his brother's cheek, right across the gentle coloring there. Hikaru laughed softly, a warm smile appearing on his face. "I really do love it when you blush, Kaoru. Every time I say, I mean it.
"But you know, you don't really have to pretend if you don't want to." Hikaru shifted slightly, gently rolling Kaoru onto his back while moving to prop himself on his elbow. "As usual, it seems to be that we are of the same mind," he said, his hand moving to brush some stray hairs out of Kaoru's eyes. "So, I guess... I guess that means that neither of us has to pretend anymore."
A gentle smile appeared on his face, and then Hikaru leaned toward his twin, placing a small kiss at the corner of Kaoru's mouth. He backed away quickly, a hint of an impish smile on his face.
Tilting his face into Hikaru's hand, Kaoru couldn't help but let out a soft, contented sigh, letting his eyes flutter shut for just a second. They blinked open again a moment later to meet the matching set across from him, and he couldn't help but flush even darker, a smile playing on his lips, regardless. "Saying that makes me blush even more, you jerk," he teased.
Kaoru had no problems or protests when Hikaru rolled him onto his back. Still, he swallowed hard at the other's words. He wasn't nervous, really. This was Hikaru, after all, the one person who he shared everything with, and who knew everything about him. He had nothing to hide, and even if he wanted to, he wouldn't have been able to.
The silly air from a few moments before was completely gone now, but it wasn't all seriousness. Both of them were still smiling, after all. "I guess we don't," he replied softly, gazing up at his brother trustingly, with obvious affection in his expression and in his tone.
Admittedly, the kiss took Kaoru slightly by surprise, but it certainly wasn't unwelcome. One arm went up to loop around Hikaru's neck, finger's playing in his auburn hair. "Hikaru…" he murmured, trailing off for a moment. "Kiss me again?" he pleaded, and then brought his free hand up, brushing his lips with his own fingers. "Here?" That silly blush was back, and Kaoru was holding his breath, waiting.
Hikaru closed his eyes at the gentle touch in his hair but slowly opened them once again, just in time to see Kaoru run his fingers against his lips. A blush reappeared on his twin's face, but this time, Hikaru too could feel a little heat rising in his cheeks. "Your wish," he murmured, face inching toward his brother's. "Is my command."
Kaoru's lips were as soft as he expected they would be, but then again, it would have been wrong to think them anything but perfect to start out with. Hikaru kissed him gently, briefly, and pulled away once more, gaze meeting his brother's for a second. However, he soon discovered that just a single kiss wasn't enough.
That first one had him hooked.
Hikaru leaned in once more, delivering a series of quick, teasing kisses, always pulling away before Kaoru could reciprocate. Finally, he settled down, eyes sliding shut as his lips came in contact with his brother's. This was hardly his first kiss, but would it be right, would it be okay to take the kiss one step further?
This... this was his twin after all. The thought was brushed aside as quickly as it came. This was not a time to be regretful or think twice. They could talk - actually talk - about this later, but it would be a huge waste to just let the moment pass them by. Maybe it was just the alcohol. Maybe it was just because Kaoru was drunk that he didn't mind. However, Hikaru knew full well that it wasn't just the liquor speaking for him tonight. He had meant those words he'd spoken.
He went on to pepper Kaoru's face with kisses, pressing them to his cheeks, nose, eyelids, and forehead. Hikaru knew full well that he had always been the leader of the two, but this time around, he wanted to give his brother a chance to make the choice. He'd let him lead the next kiss. It was only fair after all.
At first, Hikaru's kisses were like cotton candy, so sweet and soft yet almost unfulfilling as he always darted away before Kaoru had a chance to respond. Still, it was more than he ever imagined it could be, and he felt lightheaded again. Only this time, it wasn't entirely the result of the alcohol. It was much more, the end of the emotions that had built up between them recently, and the beginning of... something. Something wonderful, from the way those kisses were turning out.
A tiny whimper escaped Kaoru's lips. He wanted more, damn it. Eager, impatient hands wandered up and down Hikaru's arms as he peppered more kisses on Kaoru's face, the latter's breathing quickening, heartbeat racing. This was Hikaru making him feel this way, his brother, his twin, his other half. It was wrong, taboo, but Kaoru didn't care. It felt right, and that was all that mattered to him at the moment.
Fluttering his eyes open again, Kaoru panted softly, looking up into Hikaru's face with a slightly hooded gaze. His lips were tingling and he simply watched the boy above him for a few moments, sucking on his bottom lip thoughtfully. Hikaru seemed to be giving him the reigns for the moment.
So Kaoru did what he wanted, and took what he wanted. Using the hand that was still on Hikaru's neck, he gently pulled his brother down again, lips meeting for the deepest kiss yet. And meet their lips did, fitting and melting together perfectly, and Kaoru couldn't imagine kissing anyone else like this.
Unable to help himself, his snuck the tip of his tongue out and traced the line of Hikaru's bottom lip gently before pulling away again, looking up into the other's face inquisitively.
If the fangirls could see them now, all of them surely would have all passed out. Their wildest fantasies were playing out, and to make it all the better, it wasn't even an act!
Of course, should there have been the loud and high-pitched squealing of girls in the background, Hikaru probably would have lost his temper - with Kaoru around or not - and ordered them out. This was special after all. It had been a bit of an admission of sorts that hadn't been all the way, but if their actions were anything to go by, there didn't need to be any words spoken. After all, twins always had that knack of being able to read each other's minds.
However, Hikaru was far too preoccupied to be thinking about any of the above. Kaoru had whimpered - whimpered - in a quiet plea for more, and now he was taking the reigns, leading the kiss. Hikaru felt vaguely dizzy: from alcohol or euphoria, he didn't know and didn't care. Shifting slightly to give himself a bit more balance, he propped himself up on both elbows and found himself being licked by his twin.
That was an interesting sensation, and he wanted more of it.
Leaning in to nibble at his brother's lower lip, he laughed softly before switching from nibbles to licks. His tongue traced the contour of Kaoru's lips, leaving a wet, slick stripe, and then it was probing, searching for a way in to explore his brother's mouth. Hikaru waited until his twin allowed him in and then took control once more, tongue slipping in to tangle with the other's.
It was strange, but at the same time, just right that he was doing this. As they kissed, however, something in the back of Hikaru's mind started to nag at him. No, it wasn't the same as before, but it was more of a little notice to watch how far they went with this. Private room or not, they were still sharing an apartment with the rest of the host club, and the thought of putting them through that didn't seem all that great, especially... Haruhi. Drunk or not, having her walking in on them would've elicited a bad reaction.
Reluctantly, Hikaru pulled away, rolling onto his back beside Kaoru. He turned his head to look at his twin, gently running the back of his hand against the other's cheek. "We'll finish this when we're really alone, hm?" he murmured, a wistful smile appearing on his face. "I'm... sorry."
Hikaru was laughing and then nibbling on Kaoru's bottom lip, and he couldn't help but shiver at the feel of teeth sliding across his slightly swollen mouth, gentle yet insistent. It was sweet and familiar and altogether Hikaru and Kaoru answered his twin by letting his mouth fall open, their tongue's twisting together, hot and urgent and oh-so-good.
Why hadn't they done this before, for god's sake? What a brilliant idea it had been. It was heavenly, even blissful and everything was blurry and fuzzy and melting together, the room around them, and everywhere Kaoru's skin touched Hikaru's. His brother had taken the lead again, as was natural for the pair, and Kaoru was only happy enough to let him do so.
Murmuring softly in protest when Hikaru pulled away, Kaoru opened his eyes, chest rising and falling quicker than usual, and glanced over him, blinking a few times to regather his bearings. It was a good thing he was already lying down, or he was sure that he would've fallen over by then. His head was still spinning from the drinks and even more so, from the kissing, and from Hikaru.
But as usual, he knew what the other was thinking even before he said it. Any of the other members of the host club could walk in at any moment, and Kaoru wasn't ready to share this with them. He wasn't sure he ever would be. Hikaru was his. Sure, it was fun to put on a show in front of the others, but in private, it was much different.
Sighing quietly, both in disappointment and extreme contentment, Kaoru curled up beside Hikaru once again, resting his head on his brother's shoulder and looping one arm around his waist, tilting his head up to smile at him. "No apologizing, Hikaru," he replied. "I don't want them to know anyway," he added, reaching up to finger his swollen lips. His smile grew a bit more and he let out a soft laugh. "Hopefully no one will notice."
Hikaru tilted his head toward Kaoru and placed a kiss on his brother's forehead before resting his cheek against his hair. He too sighed in contentment and longing as he looped his arm around his brother, hand settling on his shoulder once more. He quietly listened to Kaoru speak, another smile spreading across his lips. Their eyes met, and Hikaru laughed.
"I think tono and Haruhi will be too busy being embarrassed by their own actions to notice us," he answered, his smile turning into an impish grin. "If we keep up the pestering, it should be fine. It's really just Kyoya that I'm worried about. He did know about Haruhi being a girl before any of the rest of us did..."
He fell silent for a moment, thinking about how each individual host would react. He and Kaoru already "flirted" plenty in the presence of others, so it wouldn't be all that different right? It wasn't like they were suddenly going to go around kissing each other in public. No, no... That was something quite twins only. The door to that little area of discovery would be well guarded and locked.
Would the secret ever get out? Maybe, maybe not. Who knew what the future held?
"You're mine, Kaoru," Hikaru whispered, lips brushing against auburn hair. "I'm not sharing you with anyone. Not now, not ever."
Kaoru laughed out loud at that and nodded in agreement. "You're right. I doubt any attention will be on us, after their little performance," he grinned, thoroughly amused by the memories of the night's previous events. Hikaru also had a point about Kyoya, however. He was extremely perceptive, and if anyone caught on, it would be him.
But it would probably be hard to pick up. It wasn't like they were going to act any different in front of them. They pretended enough as it was. It was doubtful that anyone would notice that they weren't really pretending anymore.
In fact, they probably hadn't truly been pretending for awhile now, without realizing it. It had become a comfortable routine. Now it was just out in the open, at least between the two of them.
Shaken from his thoughts by Hikaru's whispered declaration, Kaoru looked up at his brother once more, his eyes wide and nodded. "Same goes for you, Hikaru," he whispered back, leaning in and kissing the underside of his twin's jaw before tucking his head there. "I'd be so jealous, anyway. I don't want you doing... what we just did with anyone but me," Kaoru admitted, although he was certain Hikaru already knew that, and felt the same.
"Of course not," Hikaru replied, tilting his head slightly to give Kaoru another kiss on the head. "I wouldn't dream of it. Though on the note of dreaming..."
Shifting suddenly, he fussed about and grabbed the end of the comforter and pulled it up and over their bodies. Hikaru lifted a hand and gently ran it through his twin's hair before passing his hand down over his cheek and over his lips. "Perhaps we should be getting to sleep, hm?" he whispered, voice soothing. "We've got a lot of teasing to do tomorrow after all."
Hikaru reached over and turned off the bedside lamp before snuggling under the covers with Kaoru. He leaned in one last time and kiss his lips gently. "Good night, Kaoru," he murmured, voice dropping to inaudible levels with the last syllable of his brother's name. Hikaru paused for a moment before mouthing his last message to his brother that evening. "I love you."
